Hey moskus...

A friend of mine is running a webserver. Usually he's pretty nice when it comes to storing web-pages. I'll ask if he'd like to give me/us 200 MBs then space wouldn't be a problem. :)
 
I am in:D I am in:D moskus, can we borrow the space for about a month or so? 200mb sounds large enough to store the bun files :)

As long as he had HD-space it shouldn't be a problem. I used 500 MB for 1,5 years.

But it's not the fastest line in the world. The server is on a ADSL-connection.
 
Count me in, too! :D

Also, I can supply a drummer if we need one as well. It'll be V-Drums - but at least played by a real drummer.

Theres no pressure, this is still in its infancy, but we aint waitin till you have 5000 posts either!:D :D it seems like the interest may already be faultering, this threads been dead today.

It very well could be that whats been submitted so far is too scary, but keep in mind that these are just general ideas and we can work at changing and revising anything at this point.

both submissions so far have a relatively simple construction and I can't speak for Porter, but mine is open to ANY ideas anyone has to improve the song. which should be easy since the original recording was so poorly done:o


So step right up with any ideas you may have for a collaboration song, maybe submit a rough draft of the general gist of it so we can pick 1 or 2 to work on.

I suppose we should take a consensus of the style which we are most comfortable with.

Sooo, maybe we should Pick a genre ??????

easy listening
country

jazz
classical
pop
metal
fusion
euro
latin
comedy
hungarian polka with bagpipes
ETC.

Im most comfortable with rock,country, easy listening,blues or pop myself. even though my favorite is hungarian polka:D :D

Relæx, that's just how it is around here. Sometimes people are posting like crazy, and it's hard to keep up. Other times people are just being lazy. Remember, they can check out any time they will, but they can never leave... :D

I've had an idea for a ground comp. for some time now, but since I'm not near my DAW (only a month to go), I haven't done anything with it. I'll see if I can get it recorded somehow and post it. :)

I just noticed that we have 2 great vocalists that I recognise IMHO...... jagular and dachay. This is gonna be fantastic:) :) :) :)

The stuff I write is usually intended for some friends and close family so I have no Idea what or where it fits in the global plethora of tastes we have here. So I was trying NOT to be pushy with what I like. And fully realize that It may be total crap to someone else, Thus the "scary" comment above :)

MR.Porter has been delegated the project manager, Im just throwing out some ideas.
I do think that the vocalist/s should probably pick a song/style hes comfortable with since we can all play something with our chosen instruments in just about any style.
But to me, singing is quite different, and vocals are a very special instrument.
What do you think MR Porter? Vocalists?

Well the Project manager was the organiser of the web space but if required I can do it...

That would be Jagular. I only do BGV's.

BTW, has anyone thought about maybe doing a cover song to start with. Possibly a Beatle's tune or something. Might be an easier way to get our feet wet.

Just tossing out ideas here. :)

yes, I think it's a good idea to warming up woth covers. any idea what song? but if we don't have our server, we cant make it through no where radio ? I heard Waldo's respective policy not to put covers without permission on no where radio.

ChuckU, you are gonna mix them with your brand new mixer, aren't you ? :)
 
If we save out tracks as mp3's in 192khz each stereo track in a 4 minute song will be about 3Mb... I've got 30Mb that is available straight away... so that's 10 tracks for the time being.

In reality... once the second track is recorded I can do a quick mix of what we have so far and do that each time a new track comes in... eventually we can then post each mp3 (track) on a server somwhere and we can all have a go at mixing it.

Cool, lets get going before my back goes completely out again. :(

Id like to play a guitar track, either electric or acoustic, it doesnt really matter if mine makes the final mix just so long as I give it my best try.

Whatever you all decide will be fine as far as the song idea, but if I may be so forward as to express my 2 cents ..........

I'm really not in favor of the cover idea myself, simply because we'd be trying to mimic someone elses sound and I really suck at that. If its original its ours to play with and modify as we desire and therefore our collective creative talents can be fully appreciated :) including writing and arranging, not to mention the enjoyment of artistic license :D
also if we do a GREAT job we can submit it for the next HR CD.

Plus I like to share my work with friends and family through my nowhere account and with a Cover waldo says thats a big NONO.

Porter just an idea but ,,maybe a cutoff date (say 1 week) for submitting or picking the first song to work with might help expedite things.

I guess I should shut up now and go to bed;) :) ;)

Yeah, but we need to do this by trial and error. You know, who's doing what, who's getting pissed on who for doing too much or not doing anything at all, etc. I suggest we play something like... er... Taxman by Beatles, or something. It doesen't need to be a big job, just to see that everything is "working" right. :)

And sign me up for a guitar-track too! :D A solo?!? :eek:
