I know you're a big advocate of this one, so convince me to buy it gidge. Other than the hot chick holding it on the webpage http://www.johnson-amp.com/ I need a guitar/effects thing to track guitar in my sad little dorm room without micing up my amp. I'd also like to use it for bass.

The spidf part is a big plus for me too, because I'll be getting the Digi 001, and I could use the extra inputs.

Make me want to buy it...

this is one reason...guitar and bass thru the J-Station....even if Ed's playing sucks....:D

i put the j-station up against a pod at Guitar Center (when they were about the same price) for at least 2 hours, and they both had their plusses and minuses....but i rathered more of the J-Stations sounds and the effects are WAY more flexible and sound better....and with the S/PDIF i can record guitar/bass thru it and leave the analog inputs free.....at $149, POD cant touch it as far as bang for the buck.....the bass models sound really good when tweaked.....for a all in one guitar/bass amp modeler and effects unit, you just cant beat it......try to stay away from the presets as much as possible and use the J-Edit software thru Midi to tweak your sounds......

and yes, thats a fine ass white woman in that ad.......

Yeah JF, I have a Johnson and a POD and they are both hip for different things BUT, the POD does not have a good way to get a good bass sound and the Johnson has a couple of bass amp models. Also a passible acoustic simulation.

J Station should be arriving at my door in a matter of days. I can't wait, I love toys. It'll get alot of use, at least till the summer. You can never have too many tones, and I have yet to get a bass tone that didn't fuck up my whole mix. I think this should be able to manage that at least.

The bass amps are kick ass. Ive had more than a few people say "Jesus, the bass....so deep, so big, so smooth.....how?!"

The J-Station bass has become one of my secret weapons.

Not too much sounds good out of the box though. As was said above, use it in conjunction with J-edit and the real J-station will reveal itself to you. Stay away from the effects. If you have a decent editor and any decent plugs, youll be better off with those.

Count me among the believers. And I'm one of those old "gotta use a tube amp" guys.Congrats on the purchase! You will really like it.

I like chicks with big titts...

Hey fellas,

I have been looking for something for the bass. I have been looking into the Sansamp Tech 21 Bass and also the J-station. Anyone try both. I need to get some time to go to the sotre. Maybe this weekend, if my job will leave me alone. I agree that the POD for guitar does not cut it at all in the bass department.

Better watch those UPS guys, they have a habit of running away if youre not quick enough on the draw. Don't want to miss them after waiting all day, know what I mean!!!!!

Damn, that chick on the website was enough for me.

No argument here. It'd be pretty cool if you could pick up one of THOSE for $150! ;)

Ok, I just got the J Station, and guess what? it makes random fucking noises. Its not the cable, not the outputs, not the input, not the headphone outs. Its the fucking unit. Its like random popping that happens even when nothing is plugged in. Dammit. I don't wanna have to send this thing back.

It does sound pretty cool though. It sounds better than I thought it would. Fucking fuckidy fuck.

Oops.

Lessons learned by Joe Fogarty tonight:

1.) if two problems arise at the same time, they are likely to have the same cause

2.)Don't put the power supply for the J Station very close to your computer monitor

3.)The J Station chick does NOT appreciate phone calls at three in the morning.

4.) ESPECIALLY if its from a phone booth across from her house.l

In case anyone cares, here's a tiny sample of how the J Station sounds. This is only playing with it for about a half hour, recorded through my shitty behringer mixer, through my stupid Philips sounds card, into pro tools free. The noise on the track is from the bass. I need to learn to play bass, and get a new bass :)

Oh the drums are a sample from Rick James Ghetto life. What a kick ass drum tone. Its only there to give a beat though.
Small sample

The J station bug is a god send, Its his way of saying get the tech 21 I did. Try the Korg ax1b Its the best bass prossesor out and the sansbass is just great. The j station is ok granted but you will be hapier with the results you get from tech 21.

Darrin,

Are you familiar with both? I am trying to decide which would work well. Thanks (Sansamp Tech21 Bass is what you are referring to?)
