Help with Studio Dimensions

So I've got a master bedroom in my house that I've been building into a home studio. It consists of an approximately 11'x8'x8' room, with a large walk-in closet for a proposed control room (almost 8'x8'x8'...yikes!) The exact dimensions for the control room, as it stands, are 100 inches long by 92 inches wide, with a 95 inches from the floor to the ceiling.

I was thinking that by moving the wall that separates the two rooms over a few feet, I could get both rooms closer to the golden ratio (that is, about 13x8 and 5x8, respectively).

Is this a good idea? Would a 5x8x8 room be better than 8x8x8?

Best is to remove the wall completely and have the studio be a single room. You'll never get real isolation anyway in a home setting.

Well that's probably not an option at this point. I'm not really worried about isolation, but I don't think the landlord would agree to removing the closet completely.

Not unless you are monitoring at really low levels. It would have to be fairly dead sounding, but you could build a couple of portable diffuser/absorber combo gobos and make the room 8x7 with some angles. This would make the 8x8 work better than compressing everything down to 5'.
