help with selecting some drum mics

Mics,Mics,Mics..that is the question

Hey N8theGr8 >> NADY is producing some pretty good mics for reeeaal cheap. They have a mic SP 9 which sells for around $19.99, but if you shop around you can find deals. If you check out www.musiciansfriend.com, right now you can pick them up for $9.99 or a whole set of 6 with cords and case for $99.99. All you purests out there will probably shrug them off just on price alone. If you are 16 yrs. old looking to learn how to record, 6 mics for the price of one Shure is the way to go. They sound like any other mid $ range mic to me and after they go through a Behringer low $ board into the ol' 'puter one would be hard pressed to tell the difference. If ya save up, they got a decent condenser for around $99 that 2 make a great live recording

I've recorded with 4-tracks of various brands and price ranges. I personally have found that much higher quality recordings can be done on any computer than the best 4-trk. You lose sooo much in the mixdown on tape and nothing in digital. The system I used at first was a Dell 180mhz Pentium Pro, with 96megs of ram and it did basic recording just fine. Actually after some practice I was burning air quality CD's with it, so if I can pull it off so can you. I recommend to start use a Soundblaster Live! Value card for about $45, You can use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks software for under $50. The Guitar Tracks program is mad easy to use, you can record 2 tracks right and left at the same time, record 8 tracks then mix 'em down to 2 and record more tracks,it has effects, audio wiew for wav editing, export to wav for burning to CD's, and the list goes on. ive got a few questions about that nady $99 set, first, what would i use on cymbals? does it come with an overhead? also, the 4track im pretty sure about getting (X-12 fostex) has only 4mic 1/4" inputs, would i use a splitter on two of them? i'd like to go with the X-12 because its 129.99 new, and my band cant really afford more. about the shure57, i was planning on using it as a drum mic, guitar, and vocal mic, im guessing the nady's wont work for all three. do they?
what are other people's opinions on majonna's point of using a comp?

The 57 will sound a whole lot better then the Nady's. NO questions.

The comp will be better, but you'll spend mroe to do what you want. A lot more. You can't really use a splitter on the mics. You'd have to buy an external mixer. You probably should anyways, cause I don't think the X-12 has mic pres, just line level ins.
