I walk the line
This may not be the proper forum for this, but it seemed appropriate to me. I followed the link to Teddie's "Procrastination" and was able to download & hear it just fine. But when I tried to get to any of his other tunes or to any of the other mp3's in this forum, I get a mesage "Windows Media Player connot open http://chooser.mp3.com/blah/blah/blah-blah/etc. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again." What gives? Has anyone else experienced this? I would have thought that I'm doing something wrong or my player is hosed, but I was able to download and play that first one. If this this is something that should be posted elsewhere, or has already been answered elsewhere, I apologize, and could you please point me in the right direction. If I can get this working, then I can tell all of you how great your tunes are! (Shameless, yet hopefully effective attempt at bribery)
Thanks in advance to any and all who attempt to help!

Hmmmmmm...

Weird. I never just double click, I right click then select "Save Target As". You will then get a box that let's you put the file wherever you want it on your hard drive.

All hyperlinks will let you do this.

Your problem may be that your MP3 player is not able to download another mp3 after it has played one. Don't know why, but it seems I have had this happen before myself. I just use the right click thing to download now and all is well.

Here, try anything from my mp3 page on my web site.

I've had to start doing the same thing. I think the new version of WinAmp decides that .mp3s are going to be played RIGHT THEN whether it's a download or not. I just wish that it always opened my MP3 folder to save in, instead of the folder I was last in. It's a small pain, but it taught me how to save other "targets," like Flash animations, etc...

Anyone know why this happened? The WinAmp thing is just a guess (still very happy with WinAmp, BTW).

Thanks, guys.

Sonusman, your suggestion has allowed me to download mp3's from any other source, but I still can't get them from MP3.com. BTW, great demo on the value of mastering and just great sounding stuff all around.

Kelly, that's exactly what was happening to me. It would automatically start buffering to play, then I would get that message.

Now, here's where I really start feeling stupid. I am a techie type of person, but apparently I've missed the boat somewhere along the way. I'm using Windows Media Player. Is that a no-no? I have an older demo version of MusicMatch, but it seemed to give me more problems than it was worth. Should I be using WinAmp?

Thanks again for all the help.

Weird....

I download from mp3.com all the time using this method.

With Media Player, just go into Options, and where you can select what file types to associate with the player, DON'T select mp3. This is another way to stop Media Player from buffering a mp3 and trying to play it right away.

But, this then requires that you tell Windows to open mp3's with Media Player. You can set this default by right clicking any mp3, select properties, then where is says Open With select Media Player. Media Player itself will not change any of it's options, but it also won't automatically open and try to play a mp3 that you are downloading. Media Player is just acting like a steaming application when you click on a mp3 from a website it all. Sort of weird, but that is the skinny of it.

I am sure that Winamp has similar options too.
