i got a noob question for y'all

on my guitar amp theres an output to connect to a larger speaker or amp...
can i use that to connect to a mixer, and then the mixer to my computer?

Thanks for everything and please respond

NO!
If it is speaker level... you'll definately toast something.

Only use LINE OUT or DIRECT OUT.

NEVER use EXT. cabinet etc..

lol

thanks dude, i couldve seriously fucked some shit up without ur help...

is there a way i could get an output from my amp without buying a different one?

How do i hook a mixer up to my computer?

Thanks u guys rock

yes

thanks other guy, i think that will work, but how do i hook up a mixer too my computer?

what software should i get if i wanna record music? nothing too expensive....
i wanna record drums, guitar, vocals, bass and keys

I don't use a mixer so someone else will have to help you out there, my guess would be connect line outs on the mixer to line in on soundcard.

As for the software, you can get it free with Audacity, Kristal, or Reaper. Google em.

thx

thanks dude, i will do the free software. i still need help on the mixer thing tho... how do u hook somethin up to the soundcard? isnt it internal???

Most stock sound cards have 3 1/8" Jacks: Mic In, Line in, and Headphone/Line out. You'll probably need adapters to get the mixer into the line in.

damn

how much is like a really cheap audio interface? what do they do newayz? i dont have firewire either..Do i really need it?

lol

oh is that all? im lookin through a musicians friend catalog, and the other guy said something about an audio interface to even it out... cant i do that with the mixer or software without the interface?

You can record without an interface, using your stock sound card, but the quality won't be anything special.

Your mixer probably? has rca outputs, so you just need an rca to 1/8" adapter. Theoretically. Like I said, I don't use a mixer, so I'm not 100% sure

ok im fuckinfucked

im so confused how this shit works....
if im recording instuments, and lets say i have mics recording all of them...hypothetically, 1 for drum, 1 for guitar, 1 for keys, 1 for bass...
i connect them all into the mixer, and then the mixer into my computer.... right? Where would it go into the computer? The microphone jack? or what

The line in. But because you're using the stock soundcard, you'd need to have the mix right before you record, as you won't be able to edit each instrument individually with only one input on the soundcard

mmmkay

tahanks for helpin me...

what do u suppose this Line In port looks like? where would it be on the computer

Ok you ever plug headphones or speakers into your computer? That's the headphone jack. It probably has a little picture of headphones on it. There should also be a mic jack. On my soundcard the picture looks like an ice cream cone. If you only have three jacks like I do, then the other one will be the line in.

hmmmm

no luck on it... i am lookin on my laptop tho... i plan using a pc that im getting soon tho. Im sure it'll work out. Thanks for all the help.
