Hi... This x-mas, me and 5 friends are going to buy a condenser mic to record our stuffs (Vocals and Beatbox).

I was thinking on a Behringer B-2, but the seller on the store that sells audio stuff here in my town says that at the moment he doesn't sell Behringer material cuz they take lots of time to arrive.

He recommended me a Nady SCM1000 (more info @ http://www.nady.com/products/product_pgs/scmmics_pg2.html ), which I don't know if it's good or not, cuz I don't know any1 who has a similiar mic to somethin about it, and sometimes the specifications may not correspond to the real features :X.

So I whould like too now if the SCM1000 is a good choise (in terms of quality and budget ^^), and if it isn't, please recommend me a better mic.

Thanks

Thanks for awnsering... but on musicstore.de (european musicstore for those that don't know) and didn't found any of the models from the brands you said. It has condenser mics from those brands:AKG, Microtech Gefell, Audio Technica, MUSIC STORE, Behringer, Neumann, Beyerdynamic, Rode, Brauner, Samson, Crown, Schoeps, DPA, Sennheiser, Earthworks, Shure, Fame, Sony, Inter Mercador and Soundman. So if it isn't ask too much, can you recommend me a good mic from 1 of those brands with a max price of 250€ (~$300)? Thanks

OK, well given the price range, looking at the brands available to you, try: Rode NT1a; or something by AKG or Audio Technica (can't say which specific models).

I'd avoid Behringer and Samson.

I agree. Of the brands that are available to you, I would look at the Rode mics, as well as the Audio Technica brand (the good AKG mics, such as the 414, are likely to be beyond your budget). Like billisa said, I would stay away from the Behringer and Samson brands.

Hey... Thanks for awnsering... I searched for affordable mics that i could buy @ musicstore from AKG, Rode and Audio Technica and got this:

Rode NT-1000 - Retail Price 405,77€ - Sale price 311.89€
AKG C3000B - Retail Price 343.18 - Sale price 279.55€
AKG CK91 - Retail Price 204.45€ - Sale price 184.63€
AKG C2000B - Retail Price 192.97€ - Sale price 192.97€
Rode NT-1A - Retail Price 231.57 - Sale price 176.28€
Audio Technica AT 2020 - Retail Price 144.99€ - Sale Price 134.56€

I think Rode NT-1A is good too cuz of his price/features relation, and you recommended me, so thats another point ;). And by the way, why avoid behringer?

I don't think the AKG 3000B is very well thought of. Also, from reading posts over the years, the Rode NT1000 doesn't seem to rate very highly. The AT 2020 is a new offering in their budget line.(?)

The Rode NT1a is a VERY, VERY quiet, fairly "neutral" mic that may be a bit bright, but a lot of people have sung it's praises in the budget category.

From direct experience, the Samsons are very noisy (hissy). The Behringer B2's have been said to be very brittle sounding, and why go that way when you can have a nice mic from a company that specializes in mics?

You want to try to get a mic that, even if you buy something better in the years ahead, will still have some good value and uses. The Rode NT1a will always be solid on acoustic guitars (if not always on some voices). BTW, make sure it's the NT1-A, not just the NT1...

In general, get the best you can afford, and also realise the primary ingredient in getting a great recording is you, not the mic.

Hmmm okay.. then I'll start gather $ for the NT-1A in x-mas ;)
Thanks for the help again

Good idea, it will always have a use in your studio. Now save up for an RE20 and a pair of small diaphragm condensers.
