I'm about to buy a product which comes with a free gift ( a mic). My question to you guys is which one should i choose? I am trying to get into recording local metal/hardcore bands, and am looking for something to help with the recording process. As of now all i have is a nady 7 piece drum mic set (i know it's bad, but i got it for dirt cheap), SM57, Samson C01 and C05. I know i need a lot of work with the mics and stuff, but right now i'm trying to figure out which mic will be the best for what i'm doing, and which might have multiple uses. Here's the list...see what you can do to help me with this choice.

AKG D-112
AUDIX D6
AKG C1000
AKG C2000
AT3035
AT4041

Thanks guys!

Any of those mics might be useful except the C1000. Back slowly away from the C1000.

I agree with supercreep...I would probably lean more towards the c2000 or the AT3035.

I've only got first hand exp with the AT3035. I've used it for vox and some acoustic guitar. Seems like a pretty good mic to me. Can't really say much about the others except, like SC said, the C1000 not being a favorite among some.
fwiw......

Love my D112. If it were stolen I'd buy another today.

The d112 might be a good choice if you didnt already have a quality dynamic. I chose between the two condensors because you already have a 57.

Frankly, for metal, I would choose the D6 over the D112. But- I also like the C2000B a lot. You don't have a lot of mics, and the C2000 is wicked versatile, a pair is better. They are good on overheads, toms, hand percussion, acoustic guitar, and excellent on guitar cabs and quite a few vocalists, especially women.
For an all around cheap mic, you could do a lot worse to start. -Richie

I would get one of the two kick mics, either the D112 or the D6. Those mics are great mics that will last a lifetime. If I were to get any of those other mics it would be a pair and I would probably want to upgrade later.
