ok, i have a jcm2000 dsl100+1960 4x12 slanted and a gt-6. i basicly thought about selling the jcm2000 head to a friend for 900$can and by a velocity poweramp from rocktron 400$ new, using the boss gt-6 as my main preamp.

Anyone did that and can affirmly tell me I'm doing a nut choice or i'm gonna get best of both world?

i kinda need answer fast cuz I have to decide soon (i have found someone that could sell me poweramp used, but he has other offers).

Does it sound better than your current setup?

I fail to see why you are asking us. Go play it and if you like the feel better, then do it. If not, then don't. This really isn't something that is up for debate IMO.

Well if i can have some other opinions then mine from more experienced people than me i think it's worth it.

it's a case of "yeah sounded awesome at the store, shitty back home" that happens all the time

love that amp as well. Like the other guys are saying, it's all about which you think sounds better. What kind of sounds are you trying to get with the JCM2000? It took me some time messing with the knobs to get the sound I was looking for, but eventually I stumbled onto it and haven't messed with the knobs since.

I wouldnt sell my TSL100 for anything, I love it. I just can't see a crappy gt6 and a rocktron amp being better than the real thing.

H2H

that's what i thought i would get as an answer. And now that i have seen dsl100 is now 1500$ US new i think i'm gonna keep it until i Find someone that would borrow a 5150II

Is it me or it's just crazy a marshall for the price of a mesa?

I got my DSL 100 new from a guy who runs a music shop on ebay. Cost me 1200$, including shipping. Needless to say I was rather stoked!!

Are you saying that Mesa is above Marshall so much that Marshall can't get Mesa prices for their gear?

Let's see.... [spins the answer wheel] ....... OK..... Sell!

[notices wheel's still moving] .....No wait.....................Don't sell!

That's how I make my decisions.

Exactly, mesa is made in usa=much more costs related to production
marshall=big part of production made somewhere where it costs nothing (don't remember exactly where, sorry)

just because of that marshall should not sell the price of mesa
and my marshall amp is a pain in the ass for metal recording

I think you are confused.

Marshall's are made in England - They are the original Metal amp. Mesa has nothing on Marshall. (I Like Mesa too, don't get me wrong).

Well my point is Marshall is no longer made in England, they get parts made from china or something like that to lower the costs but they get the price higher (i don't think you really wanna endorse that)

It's so stupid those days. Where i work, every MUST have a made in Canada sticker, but it's made in china and taiwan, but because we are a big enough company, we are in right to write Canada and are forced too, so moron.

Just because we verify if everything is allright it gets tagged made in Canada, which i'm barely sure is the same for marshall....

i would take a marshall which you are barealy sure is not made in england over a mesa anyday. Mesa's sound amazing, but all of my favorite records were recorded on Marshall guitars. To say that they are not equal to marshall is a little much, annd besides i dont care where they make the stuff if the product sounds as good or better (which i believe marshalls do) they can charge what every they want..thats the lovely law of supply and demand

I think the mg series are made in china, but I don't consider that a real marshall. Any of the all tube Marshalls are made in England, and are every bit as good (if not better) than a Mesa.

I LOVE my new 1974X - it was hand built by some dude in ENGLAND! :D :D :D (and I bet he makes a pretty decent wage)

The Rocktron power amps are crap. If you are going to go with the GT-5 and a power amp of some sort, make it a tube power amp like the Mesa 90/90. The only time I have been able to get a useful sound out of the GT-5 is when I use the power section of an old Laney tube head as a power amp. Transistor power amps (especially screechy, low wattage, Rocktron garbage) are not going to help.

mesa tri-axis trhough mesa simul-class AB power amp... thats what you should get.

how many guitar amps have PRESETS??
