I've just started putting together my studio, so far I have the VS-890, Behringer 802A, and a Tascam CD R/W4.

I want to add a limiter / compressor to this setup, and was thinking about the Behringer ComposerPro. But in reading through some of the other threads the limiter issue seems to be a hot one.

I plan to mix some rhythm tracks and Dj beats and maybe a vocal or two, do I really need to invest in a limiter? In college radio we swore by them but that was 100 years ago in a totally analog universe???

"invest" in a 100$ compressor?

ha ha ha!

go ahead and get one! you wont regret it!

I have a couple of mixers the optimus from Radio shack (I know I just opened myself up to some cruel ridicule), The sound quality sucks, and the levels vary widely from channel to channer, and the EQ is fuzzy at best. I was thinking about getting either a Gemini or a Newmark to replace this piece of TRASH.....

i have a gemini cd player with 16% pitch control and i like it a lot!

i have behringer compressors and i like them too.

i used to use a vs880 and now i have an akai 16 track.

The FMR RNC is a pretty highly regarded compressor for $175.

Help a newbie out

Ok I went out and got a Behringer MDX 2200, nice price $99.00 from GC. Also got the Blue Tube Mic Pre to warm up the mic in the studio (Only $149).

So once I get this in I'll let ya know what happens

Thx

Whoooo !!!!

Both the MDX 2200 and the BlueTube are giving me a nutt, I have the 2200 at the end of my audio chain riding shot gun over my CD R/W and the BlueTube pumping HOT atmosphere in to my Vocals, So Far I LOVE it, Great advice guys.....

I woud second the FMR Really Nice Compressor. Cheap and does exactly what it's supposed to.

I third the RNC ...

nothing in the price range touches the quality.

Happy 2200 Compressor user...

Right on!!!
I use a 2200 as well and the results were stunning to me...
I was unsure of purchasing this unit, too...

But, after buying it - It was the best 99.00 bucks I ever bought!!

Keep Jammin....
