hello, new here. I just got a Tascam 788 digital portastudio...

I don't even know where to start. This will be my first experience with digital recording... in the past I ihave used a 4-track cassette recorder..
whoooey any tips on where to start? I am looking over the manual and being overwhelmed... I need a quick and dirty run-down...

Well now that you have gotten yourelf totally confused.. Get the recorder connected to something, put the book on top of the fridg. and just start playing with it . You ain't gonna' hurt it. If you know how to record with a 4 track deck,,,you know how to record with this, it just has more features. Don't be scared were all pullin for ya, Keep yur stick on the ice..

I just bought one also. My advice would be to just wing it (with the manual close by just in case you want to look something up, of course). What's the worst that can happen? If you're like me you have 45 days to send it back, so if you screw it up who cares. You can get another one. So just find a drumbeat, plug an instrument in it and take off. Most of the fun is the journey to the final product, NOT the end result. HAVE FUN!!!!
