Ok, so my background is all out Thrash Metal, but my 8 year old daughter's isn't. I told her that I would write a Pop song, rather than the hard edged stuff I normally write.

So here it is....

Hassle Free

vocals reminds me of 'Styx'...... pretty nice tune and mix...

I didnt like that first drum beat.. It sounds like its stuttering and it was a bit distracting IMHOP.. The vocals were good, but came slightly out of key every now and then.. Did you use some pitch shifting on the backing vox? cool high parts that sound like a little girl.. pretty clever. :)

I think this tune would more than serve it's purpose for your daughter..

nice job! I liked the tune..

Not a bad tune.Sami you nailed the Styx thing!;)When the chorus started thats all I could hear.Styx!

quick question

Hi Dave: Daughters are cool, and they can make you do some INSANE things (not a comment on the tune, btw :D).

I hope my next question doesn't sound too weird, but what were you wanting in the way of "discussion." What I mean is, are you looking to "fix" stuff, b/c I can hear a couple of vocal things that are out, and I'll be more than happy to bore you by posting time-marks and stuff, but it seems to me like maybe this is a really cool gift for your daughter, and that my "mix" comments would be really out of place.

Cool Of You To Do,

Yeah STYX for sure, you got a great voice man!

I like to hear more of that funky wah wah guitar.

I hear the odd pitch problems as well, for this style they got to be PERFECT :) One can get away with that in folk / rock but not this stuff.

You are very talented to switch styles so easily and still do a great job.

ok ...are you the singer in the thrash metal oufit????...never ever let them hear this..lol...this does sound like styx...nice harmonies on "freeeeeeeeee".....cool...coupla flat notes hear and there but hey my songs are ful of em......i hope your daughter digs this ...:D

thanks

Thanks For The Comments

Thanks for all the input so far guys. The "discuss" thing really was an open invitation for all your comments be they about the tune or the mix or anything. So yes I'd like to know what you would "fix" etc...

I'm not in a band, I just record on my own in my garage, so everything's me here (including the girly backing vox - no pitch shifting needed). I posted another song a little while ago and someone said the vocals were Styx-like, so I must have some DeYoung in me, a great compliment by the way!

Thanks again for the comments...

Dave.

Your voice sounds very much like Dennis DeYong. But I can hear a boy-band on this though. You have a real strong voice. Harmonies were nice on this song. There are a couple of spots where they could be tightened. The modulated thing at the end was a good touch (I believe it's a legal requirement in several states for a song like this :)).

There were clips here and there. (e.g.,s 1:41 2:17 2:24)

it's a pretty standard pop song.....i'm having a hard time imagining you as a thrash metal guy

you should redo it in a thrash metal style.....that would be something to hear....

anyhow, good singing......the harmonies could be tighter for a polished pop production as such, but are fine in general

Good tune.

The vox are a bit dry, especially the harmonies. They could use a little reverb or delay.

I *hated* that "bass" sound.

Swap that out (since its obviously played on some form of keyboard/synth thing) to something else.

BG vox needs a slight bit of wetting, a bit too dry.

As said before, a few pitch issues.

But that Bass takes it all... a muddy ugly... outta time, undiscinct.... an octave to high.... and my isn't it off pitch too(!) ... the sound unneceesarily spread out in stereo and drenched in some form of pseudo-verb only messing it up further..... *the pain, the pain, the pain :) :) *

Change the bass, and you're there ;)
