I like the part where it sounds like slaves building the pyramids.

lol...it does..I didnt mean it to sound middle eastern or anything..i was thinking marching to the gulags or something :)

Super KC, sounds great. Bowie has nothing on you! I say that for it reminds me a bit of the style of Cat People. You need more of these.

lol..thanks Henry..I think your hearing may be as bad as mine ;)

Nice. I like the mix of real & synth.

Singing is not bad at all; fits the song well. Sssssibs not so bad; I can sound like a lisping Brainy Smurf when I try. :)
You might just knock some of the highs off instead of de-ssssing.

I like the bass. One day, I'm going to try the loop thing. Like when I run out of dinosuar meat and leave the cave. ;)

Thanks.

Yeah Ive got a pretty good de-esser, UADs...but even with that and cuts in the HFs there's just so much effects on the vocals it always sounds a bit sibilant :o

I think if I bounced it down so the effects are bounced in the audio wave I could maybe cut out some of the tails...and it doesnt help that I wrote so many Sssss lyrics..I thought that at the time...faceless, souless....doh :)

I cant play instruments for more than a few bars and get anything that sounds remotely usable, Im just not that good a guitarist etc...so if I record loops for the project I can clean them up and just comp them on the track...not very organic, but my tunes arent anyway..

and the strings on my bass have been on it since the mid nineties so it takes a bit of work!

They are just now getting broke in, you need another decade of finger tip skin on them to sound good. :D

kcearl has been banned. He asked me to tell you all "thanks for listening". He'll catch you on the flipside.

Cool, my tartan bro!
The voice fits the mood of the song and the playing's great. The mix sounds beautifully 3-dimensional and that sub-bass kicks one in the stomach....
You should sound more scottish when you sing, though,...:D
I tip my scotch tumbler in your general direction!:drunk::)

True. I keep bass strings until they break. I think my B string is over 10 years old. :D Plus, you can boil bass strings for about a minute, and they shine & play like new... for about a week.

Nice tune, clear mix, the kick's a little boomy. Vocals are a bit pitchy but I've heard worse in songs in this genre that became hits (before pitch correction tools I'd guess).

And it wasn't happy, let alone "happy, happy, happy".

:)

Oh I never noticed that he was banned, a greatest hits album is out the question then? :)

Ok Keith, I'm not sure what you're accused of doing, but whatever it is, I'm pretty sure you're guilty. Regardless, my hope is that the ban is lifted post-haste.

This sounds very good. The instrumentation is well put together and this doesn't really remind me of anything in particular (wait...maybe a little bit of the Smiths?), which is for the most part a good thing. I like your voice for this but the pitch is kind of an issue at certain points (not that I have great pitch or anything, blah, blah, disclaimers...blah, blah). Otherwise I thought it was pretty solid and not at all happy. The vaguely Arabian melody was simple, but nice. The blend of instruments playing that part sounded cool.

I would like to hear the vocals more defined. Louder with some bass rolloff so they cut through the mix. Lots of reverb is good for this.
Other than that it all works for me in a musical and technical sense. Love the variety of synths in this. The drums are perfect - simple and droning.

The other reference point that popped into & then out of my skull was 1st album Ultravox - John Foxx era LONG, LONG before Midge sullied them. The percussion gave that feel - very early syndrumm/ casio keyboard drum machine stuff.
I just played it LOUDLY & it sounds great. I don't hear the pitch variation as an issue quite honestly.
There was a time when singing slightly flat was very fashionable - Bronski Beat et al - but the reality is my ear isn't good so that I ca easily accept & embrace the vocal on this track & think it grand.

Hey Keith, I don't know what you did either, but you won't be gone for very long. Hopefully you're taking the time off to write new material.

Enjoying the song. You've got a real talent for this stuff. When is the CD coming out? I'm ready to buy.

I've got no suggestions for improvement on the mix or anything, I think the vocals sound fine as they are. Any pitch variance is barely notieable.

See ya when you get back.

Banning such a talented, frequent and great contributor to the forum is a crying shame......whatever happens in the Cave should stay in the Cave.

Pretty sure it wasn't in the cave.
