Ok, that does indeed seem very loud.

There's only really one more thing I can think of, and I can't really check it out because my cuemix is a different version from yours.

I read that clicking the focus button allows you to see various effects and processors for that particular channel.
Is there any chance that there is some kind of boost, compressor, eq, anything like that turned on through cuemix?

I find it hard to believe that it's a fault. It just doesn't seem like it would be, you know?

the compressor was on , i turned off all effects and still clipping. i talked to motu today and they had me do a number of things and one was using one of the 8 analog inputs in the back. i did that and the level was exactly how it should of been. this is when they told me something that really pissed me off. they said that they would recommend that i use the analog input for recording the guitar. i told them thet those were strictly being used for my v drums. bottom line they said the out put on my guitar was too hot. and they were going to do some research on the matter and they would get back in touch with me today. they didn't . now i have to get in touch with them on monday or tuesday because monday is a holiday. is it so wrong to want something to work the way it is supposed to. i don't want to work around problems i just want them fixed.

Ok, well, it sounds like you've ruled everything out except the guitar.
Is it possible to get a hold of someone else's electric guitar?

You're right, you shouldn't have to accept a work around, but you can't tell them for definite that your MOTU is broken until you've eliminated every other option.

What kind of guitar (and pickups) are you using?

hey stenamaroo, how are doing? in the up coming week i am having a friend come over with a couple of different guitars. the guitar i am using right now is an ibanez rg 320 dx todd mcfarlane spawn limited edition with i believe dimarzio pickups. i also have used a charvell with i believe two pickups and on was a seymore duncan. but my friend who ons that guitar and does a lot of guitar tech work told me that the guitar was a medium output guitar and no way it should of clipped like that. i don"t understand how a sm57 doesn't come near to clipping but every electric guitar iv'e plugged in clips with or without any processing whats so ever. hope your doing good and i will still post to this thread and keep you or any body else who wishes to know about my progress up to date.
