Personally, I love the big studio records just as much as I love the shitty four track records. I bet Hot Freaks would have sucked at $60 per hour and a Pro Tools rig.

Yep, the big records (Under the bushes... onwards) are sonically what GBV deserve...

But ya can't go past the sheer heart of the "lo fi" output. I mean, just listen to "Gold Star for Robot Boy" at volume for example.

In my opinion, one of the greatest bands of the last 50 years. Simple as that.

Yep, I agree. Their hometown dudes, so Im a little biased. They make me realize just how inconsequential the recording process really is in the face of being able to write songs like that. Under the Bushes is probably my overall favorite. "Look at them" is absolutely astounding.
