Jordan Burns from Strung Out anyone?
Sean Bonham said:You guys need to read up on Mr.Grohl! In an interview with AP and in the newer Modern Drummer he talks about recording the cymbals separately from the drums on the QOTSA record. He also talks about not being able to play double bass at all and never doing it on any albums. The killing joke record that he did is awesome, but the drums are all pro tooled. Both of the articles are really great reads, I love his ideas about making people want to air drum and not playing for technicality bullshit.
He is a great man and makes great music!
Scream is one of my favorite Grohl Bands
Seriously get those articles and read them, so many good points......
I love Pearl Jam , but David Abbruzzese(if thats the drummer your speaking of) was pretty horrible all he did was hit the cymbals hundreds of times per song. Jack Irons was great in Pearl Jam.. and their current drummer Matt Cameron of Soundgarden is also amazing.greenbaysucks said:This comparison may be a little unfair, as some of you have said, but I think for a different reason. Dave Grohl has clearly had a lot more time to develop and grow as a musician over the years. His more recent albums reflect that. But look at the early Nirvana albums, including Nevermind, and forget about how they were recorded or how the drums sound. A lot of the playing is high energy but pretty basic stuff that works well with the music. A drumming legend? Hardly. Thinking back at that era I felt the Pearl Jam drummer clearly showed more style and skill.
