my best yet is the people that use god's name to get them a better deal...........if i was god and heard that i would send them to hell hahaha.

There is an incentive for me too........we work on a team commission its a bit different ......

who are your customers? gospel musicians? christian rock?

personally i love working with gospel musicians... christian rock on the other hand....

i'm glad you're working on some kind of commission after all, for your customer's sake...

I think that single handedly, you've set back GC sales thousands of dollars with your posts. I'm sure they're proud of you.

hahah sure i did...........so that means your not going to go there now when you want something else? hahahah u know you'll be back, i know that everyone that reads this will come back to the store. Im not talking bad about GC, im talking about the grinders that don't understand the other side of the story. GC pretty much has all of their products close to store cost.....profit margins are very low, they rely on quanity of sales, which works..... So how do you take something away from nothing?

The best thing I see is when a used to be customer starts working at GC.........hahahah then they see the light and start to hate themselves for how they were before.

Im sorry but even if i dont work there in the future i will still go to GC cause they are the shit and i know they give the best deals to begin with, without asking special favors.

I don't know if they are the shit... I do know that they sell a lot of shit!

Much like many other music store retailers, the majority of their "pro" gear is prosumer at best.......

Well, you ain't and I don't shop there. Ever.

well good for u...............GD who cares what u do get ripped off...........WE DONT CARE

lol.......a thousand dollars is equal to a penny at the rate this company makes.

ExactLy why I personally wouldn't leave a dime on the counter there...this is also the attitude of every half-knowledged self-absorbed little gear jockey working there.Give me a 'boutique' type, professional gear haven any day.At least at these places, the folks helping you probably know what they're talking about. And service?Yeah man!And pro discount?Always! Better than the 'evil empire' prices anyday. Its the kind of courtesy one can expect for shopping at a professional dealer. And you know, they always appreciate the business.Don't get me ranting on the QUALITY of the guitar set-ups in those places.....KEE-RIST..how do they sell ONE instrument?

I remember when there was no guitar center where i lived.......i had to go to the local music dealer that had those few amps, few guitars, few speakers, and maybe if i was lucky a mic or two. Not only did i have to pay about list on what ever i got i had to take the advise of a "salesman" about what a product did or what one was better for me.
Then one day a guitar center came to my town and from that day on i was able to not only see the products i read about in magazines or reviews, but was able to try them out, play with them, compare them and then get a price that would by far beat the competition. The other thing I liked othe than still being approached by the "salesman", was that the employees (the ones that stayed employeed for more that 6 months) knew what they were talking about cause they either lived the gig life or are somewhat involved in the trainning programs that Guitar Center offered them. It takes a very patient person to be able to learn each and every product's manual from cover to cover, especially with the amount of gear in those places...........nobody is perfect (give them a break). I was always treated with good customer service, and when i started working there I did the same. Yes i will admit there are some of you out there that drove me nutz haha, but its not like I will hold a grudge like these capitalists hater democrats, but hey.........that's just me.

Those people out there that always wanted a way to be able to demo gear before spending those thousands of bucks got their wish, and to hear the ones that are now crying and whinning about what products and services they get are just ignorant. Stores have to provide for the (cheap) as well as the (rich), or as I like to say the (behringer) as well as the (soundcraft).....its just an analogy.

Anyways its all called Capitalism..........you've lived with it your hole lives so far so.....................get over it!

Guitar Center, Sweetwater, etc. are perfectly reasonable alternatives for the many people who are not fortunate enough to live near a real pro audio dealer.

I'm one of the fortunate ones, but I still give Guitar Center business for accessories like cables, cases, and stands, as well as keyboards/synth purchases.

Also, in a few cities they actually have a true "pro" store in a seperate location from their consumer sites. In Boston there is a "secret" pro audio annex that doesn't even have a sign on the building - but it's where they keep all the Avalons, Tube Techs, Eventides, Smarts, Fearns, and vintage gear like 1176's, LA2A's, and rack mounted Neve modules. And they have people there who are very knowledgeable.

But I think there are only a half-dozen (if that) such adjunct stores in existence. Probably not in Fresno, but maybe in LA.

well..........just so you know.... i actually installed a 1176 today at work yesterday.....its always nice to be able to get those badass pieces in once in a while. Avalons (pre's, comps, di's) are always stocked at my store and we don't get shit usualy haha.

yes i know i said today and yesterday in the same sentence.........oops another typo lol.

WOW! LOL

Hey I love that thread!!

Hi guys, I'm new here, nice to meet you all! (my english is bad, so i'll do my best to make myself clear :))

Back to the topic:

I currently own 20/20bas...and yes, me too, my mixes a often to bassy. Lets say that 1 mix on 3 is to bassy. :(

I'm planning to by new monitors soon. I heard the Blue Sky System One yesterday. WOW! sounds great! Any of you own this kit?

I have Yorkville YSM1Ps and I USED to have Event 20/20s The first dude from Guitar Center said EXACTLY WHAT THE EVENTS DO.... they are harsh on the highs and the BASS IS WAY TOO LOUD when you listen on other stuff. The Yorks are 20 times better AND cheaper. To those of you who are using shit like Alesis or Events and say that your mixes are fine, you are not hearing properly. It is HIGHLY unlikely that those monitors can provide a true sound
