I had some spare time today so I finished up a cover of ACDC's "Gone Shootin". Give a listen and let me know how the mix sounds. Musicianship wise I know its bad. But sound wise, let me have it. I did two mixes. One I got a little more agressive with a master bus compressor. The other I didnt use much at all. Im playing all instruments and singing as usual, thats why its sloppy :) Anyway let me know if you like A or B better. Plus see if you can tell which has more compression (should be easy enough). Im on the fence about which sounds better.

A http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=7249290&q=hi

B http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=7249349&q=hi

I like B better. A seems more squashed to me, but I'm not going to put any money on it.

I want to hear more mids in the rhythm guitar, but maybe that's just because I want it to sound more Young-ish (Young-ian?) - I like the playing and the singing.

Thanks for the input. So far the voting seems to be for B. Mix A is louder, but that was just me being lazy. Dont let the loudness sway your vote. :) I wish I had an SG playing this one. But I used my ole Carvin, so amp wise and guitar wise I would forever be chasing Angus's tone :)

I guess they both must be ok ? Seeing how the replies are coming in slow. Mix B has more compression, is less dynamic, and has an overall distorted feel to it. But replies I have been getting elsewhere like B the best. I like A, go figure.

I like A but can see why B is popular - it's more IYFace as is the norm for Acca Dacca - A has more "air".

Thanks Ray. Your right about that. Ive been reading up in Bob Katz book on parallel compression and think I might try that approach. See how that sounds.

Yeah that's not bad. I like "A" and this new mix the best. B is no good.

Thanks Greg L. I need to read up some more on utilizing that technique and mess with it. More or less it mixes the untouched mix with a compressed mix. It gets frustrating at times. :)

Nice work, Bush! :)
Sounds great, I think it's a very balanced mix. Nice playing too, guitar sounds great and I just love that bass sound, nice, grunting and clear. Did you record it direct? Nice version, well done!

I think this new mix is much closer to A than B...which is good because I prefer A :). The new one wins by a hair...

Y'know...this is probably my favorite mix of yours I've heard...and I've heard quite a few. Solo section sounds real tight. Nice job!

The bass was di and the the rhythm guitars were through my old Peavey Stereo Chorus which is an open back 2 12" speaker combo amp. Chorus was off of course. The Peavey is pretty versital little amp. Was made back in the early 80's. The lead I use a Boss GT8 DI into my mixer.
