Here is the lyrics if ya can't understand my vox :o:

GNOME WAR

There’s trouble in the garden, all is not well
In the place were cucumbers, and the mighty pumpkins dwell
The squash are on edge, the radishes tight
No longer stone guardians, the Gnomes are spoiling for a fight...

The Gnomes march to war
There revenge they will take
On a mid-summer solstice night
They dare to temp fate
Armed with shovel
Wheelbarrow and rake
You don’t hear a noise
As they slip thru the gate

Stomping
And chanting!
(They begin to march)
Biting
And gnashing!
(They take aim on your heart)
Tiny stone hands mashing!
(This gardener’s work is undone)
There war clubs be bashing!
(Those that don’t run)

A demi-human blitzkrieg
Unleashed upon the land
No mercy they offer
As they attack this garden land
The gnomes march to war
Their revenge they will take
As they bash you with shovel
And stab you with rake

The gardeners lament:
So grease up the piglet
And bar the door
Tickle the pigeon
And get on the floor
Gather up the giblets
And box the hog
Tempt the pupa
And pray to the frog
Poach the larva
Put the squabs to flight
You better look out
The gnomes march tonight!
Poach the larva
Put the squabs to flight
You better look out
The gnomes march tonight!

Damn gnomes ... always starting their gnome wars ...

Very creative, bud. Very unusual, with a neat employment of production technology.

You're not likely to hear anything like this on the radio anytime in the near or far future ... but you NAILED the combination of lyric, technology, and arrangement in a really deft way.

This is really well done.

The mix could be tweaked ... I'm not in love with the drums presentation ... but the rest is pretty darn close.

Intruiguing work.

Best,

Kev-

I agree with K-dub. Extremely creative work:)

I really enjoyed your double bass work. If I may, you should bring the bass drum up a bit.

I liked your guitar tone mate!

Interesting work!

Cheers!

In the verses, the vocals seem too clear/clean for this type of tune. That being said I have no idea how to change that lol! Maybe Dogman could give this a try! I don't think the non-radio reference is accurate myself. I can hear this on our metal/prog rock station. Very original and heavy duty...:D

Ha! Thanks for the feedback Kev, yup, I am not to hip on the drums right now either, pretty much one loop throughout, with a couple of variations...I will be working on them next to try and spice them up with some fills /crashes at key moments. I pretty much do this stuff to amuse myself...don't really worry about getting airplay or anything, just hope others may get a kick out of the kinda stuff I like...
Thanks for posting, always appreciate your comments!

Thanks man...appreciate it, gonna work on getting those drums a bit beefier!

You know, I've been thinking the same thing...they are pretty dry for me and un-effected....I pretty much just doubled them at times during the verse, and did a few tracks for the "chorus". I kinda want to re-track them with a bit more emotion or something to them...not sure if I have the ability:o, but I'm gonna give it shot to see what it may sound like. Thanks for the feedback!

Lol. Great song. Your stuff is always entertaining.

I'm not sold on the mix, but you did say it was raw. Vocal treatment is better - everything is understandable.

Can't wait to hear it finished up. :)

Thanks Greg, I really want more depth to the guitars/ bass in this mix...cool you could hear the vocals better...gonna post what i come up with when i return from vacation...thanks for the listen!!

Very cool man....I like it. :D

I'm on phones still, so keep that in mind. Vocals are a bit outfront...maybe compress them a bit more. I think they could fit, as the tune is not standad pop. Maybe compress the entire mix some to tame just the most dynamic parts.
I like the guitar ssounds for this...very cool. And nice progression. Fun listen man....:D

heh I like that double kick thing. I tried something similar on a tune a while a go but it didn't turn out as good...lol where do you get this stuff..gnomes, tunacocks.. very original. Guitars sound good too. I like it

The arrangement and composition sound cool. :)

The solo is really neat. Nice playing.

The guitar bang bang bangs with fast kicks is cool.

The gnomes singing the clean lines in the background during choruses could possibly be processed or worked on more.

Recommendations.

Turn up the gits and bass.
Scoop out a clear range for the vox and put vox there.

Those gnomes have forgotten that they're supposed to be ornamental only!

Highly imaginative work. Those are some really interesting lyrics. Musically I think everything sounds good except the bass seems to be lost in the mix.

Fucking awesome - as usual - Variaxman.

Pissed off gnomes and electric guitar... What's not to love?

This one really stuck with me...I have no suggestions on the mix (sorry) as it sounds pretty good to me. But the tune itself is very ambitious and original.

I already mentioned how much my son loved greg's surf-rock tune (which he did), and I know your target audience probably isn't 5-year old boys, but I just thought I would share with you how much fun we had listening to this tune over the weekend. My son couldn't get enough of it...he had me replay it several times and he was simply mesmerized!

Hours later, he and I found ourselves singing the outro in the car together...he even came up with additional lyrics on his own that I did not in all honestly fully understand. You pretty much made his day...so thank you for that.
