The recording quality isn't up to par..according to my crappy PC speakers, but with that being said.....

You have went and done it again!!! You NEED to finish this song. And you need to do so very soooooooon. You'll have a crazy woman on your hands if you don't. :D

Damn JAZZ, how is it, your so young in years, but your music is so seasoned? Your not an alien are you??? LOL!! That is a joke, started in lbanks 'blame it on shiatzu' thread.

This is going to be such an awesome tune....When it is finished. Heck it is an awesome snippet!!!

So,you did this three years ago? You would have been eighteen then. WOW!!! There are definately good things ahead for you and your talent JAZZ.

I am going to listen some more. It is sooooooo good! Finish it!!! Please!!! Sooooooon!!! :D

Another project that I am not sure that I should persue...

this is another oldie that is 4 years old and suffers from mass compression/limiting and Behringer-itis. ;)

Opinions?

Worth working on if I could make the quality of equal caliber with that of take #4 on this thread? I dont know if I really feel that attached to this song to try and resurrect it from the dead...

let me know...

Hello Jazzzzz...Glad to see you have another song up. I am already downloading another song, and it seems to take forever. I will probably need to go to bed by the time this one is finished, but will listen in morning when I am awake to give my full attention to!! :)

sounds like a plan!

Thanks, as always, TRUE for listening to my jazziness...

JAZZ, I knew I would love it, before I even heard it!! :D
AWeSomE!!! Gona be another hit for your CD!!! Now ya just gotta finish it! :p
You have such an unbelievable voice.
Congrats!

You need to drop a nice deep base line into the mix. I'm thinking that if you had more drive it would make the song better than it already is.

Great singing!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Keep 'em coming... I am looking for ideas on where to take this song.
I am torn between leaving it as a strictly acoustic song, or making it into something a little more exciting.
Suggestions?

..you're torn and half the comments are in favor of blowing it up large with drums and chicks and OOMMPH after a few measures. Hmmm.

You gotta be torn because you playback and say 'man, that thing stands on it's own two feet!".

Well, I say it damn well does, damn well. It's a strong, beautiful piece that would fit in great on an album that was otherwise much busier.

On the other hand, if most of what you do is softer, the make it go big comments would be right on; it's there for the asking.

I'm just saying more isn't always more. It'll be interesting to see if it really pulls you to take it somewhere else or if, day after day, you find you like it where it is.

Really nice piece.

hey! I appreciate the listen! Thanks for the comments too! I am still thinking that I do not want to add a whole lot to the song, as I think most of the other songs that surround it will be busier.

here's a new song I just recorded real quick. This is a rough take and I know I get out of tune here and there. I was still coming up with words kind of on the fly.

Thanks!

Sorry about the song being a really short snippet. Its all that is presentable at this point in time.

Went back and messed with the newer song a little more... Just some tweaks here and there... still needs more help IMHO.... just in case anyone still cares! ;-) :p

I'll comment on this first. Dude, nice. Great emotion in the vocals. Can you tell me a bit about how they were recorded, and processed? Sounds damn good to me. I'd say the only thing I'd like to hear, is a bit more prominent bass. It sounds good, but bringing it up a little wouldn't hurt the tune at all. There seems to be plenty of space for it. Very good sounding mix. Nice and clean, but very full.
Cool.

Well, the acoustic was recorded with a MXL 603s and a Oktava 2500. Vocals were also done with the Oktava, then compression was lightly applied on the acoustics and a little more beefy on the vox, compliments of the ART Pro VLA. Interface: Firepod, mixed in Sony Vegas 6.0c.

Thanks for the mini-review! :p :D

Other than it not being as polished as the last one, still a great tune. I'd like to hear more. You have a killer voice, and it really drives this acoustic type rock.
As far as filling your tunes up with more stuff, I don't know. They seem to sound really good as slightly stripped down acoustic songs. Maybe bump the bass up a little, and see if that makes the tune seem more full, without really changing what you intend the song to be. The bass in teh last one sounds really good, just a bit quiet for me. Doesn't hurt it at all, just one thing I can find I might personally do different.

OOps! My above comment was pertaining to the new track I posted.

In the previous song 'hard to breathe' I used almost the same gear, just no oktava - I used an MXL V67 instead. There was bass in that song, but I agree that its too low, but the bass itself sounded like crap, so I tried to tweak it a little and hide it a little bit! :p

I think it sounded good. It's very straight forward, and a tune like this doesn't need anything really fancy, or overdriven. The voice carries the tune....

Meng...

...listening to that new clip is putting a picture in my ear of you, if that is mostly what you do, the acoustic/singing thing. I'm moving towards the camp of the 'blow it up big' suggestions here and there. After a few of those tunes, seeing you live, I'd be begging for, say Hard to Breathe, to jump in with both feet in the middle or somewhere as a number of folks have added.

I guess what I'm saying is you build a lotta tension and edge with your playing and voice that I'd love to hear it let out with some 'bam!'

Of course, there's other ways to release and that'll be the interesting part; seeing where you feel the song(s) need to go. If none of them every really let some steam out, I'd be leaving the end of your show looking for a mosh pit!

That's a compliment. I'm with dogman; you got something there.
