A crazy, hard-to-make-real suggestion...

Find a jazz ac bassist who's sound you like, maybe at a small venue local jazz club. Buy him a drink and ask him to listen to your song (version 1) on a portable CD w/headphones. He'll be sold if he listens. Ask if he'll help you out with a bass line. Then book time in a pro studio and bring him/her in along with your orig wav files for version 1's tracks. If this makes any sense, that's the sound I'm imagining that would complete this. Crazy, I know.

How does one get in on this deal? Is there a requirement to stink like a dog?
If so, I will wallor with my two poochies when they are good and wet, before I come to record. :D

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Keep 'em coming... I am looking for ideas on where to take this song.
I am torn between leaving it as a strictly acoustic song, or making it into something a little more exciting.
Suggestions?

I would leave it acoustic! Maybe take out the delay on the vocals and use a nice tight reverb instead? I don't know but this frickin well done bro!

I love it!

Hmm... I would like it to be an acoustic-only song... would make my life easier... but something tells me that the sound that I am after requires more impact and rhythmic following... still thinking about it..

I have stepped away from this project for a while and have moved onto the next one... an electric rocker type... here is a preview of an old version I did several years ago..

(Ignore the craptacular drum machine... it was just to help me stay in time... I will be re-doing all the tracks now that I have the time and gear to do it...)

The drum machine didn't bother me all that much. It is a rockin tune.

To my ears, the overall recording is fuzzed over with distortion/overdrive(whatever it's called), so that it masked on the vocals, which sound awesome by the way. You seem to be a natural on vocals JAZZ. :)

My personal taste is a good strong, clear lead going on in the front, with the distortion more back. The thing going on with the little lead notes(if that is what they are?) is a bit seperated from the rest of the song and not nearly strong enough. It also distracts me.

I do love the thing you do with the rhythm on the guitar, and the distortion on that. It is only when you kick it, that it fuzzes things up.

Now that I have been so nit-picky...I don't enjoy it. :(

This song is going to be another for your first CD eh? :D

Cool suggestion.

Ya know since were on the "hard-to-make-real suggestion"'s I would say that a single cello would sound awesome. Would give it a percusive solid bass sound.
