No sh*t? Wal-Mart? Back in the day, I used to have to pay over $30 for those!

I remember years ago they were like $18.99 or something silly like that, until they started doing the eco-pak thing and they dropped to $8.99 IIRC. A local place would have the eco-pak and the plastic stuff next to each other with the huge price difference. Good times though.

I used Boomers for a while. I found them to have a great, powerful tone initially, but they fall off pretty fast.

I've been using Dean Markleys for years, and while they are not quite as hot sounding as the Boomers (for the first two hours of play, anyway), their tone seems to hang in there for a long time.

I generally use 11's on an SG. I love the brightness especially with some downtunnings.

However, due to not being able to EVER find them sold in singles and breaking the low's a lot ( I know I know, it's the way I play ), I resorted to some of those MF bulk strings in the same gauge for the low's and believe it or not I've broken less strings in a less amount of time than I ever did using the Boomers at least for the lows.

I've also found that those MF strings do not maintain there quality over a good amount of time.

It also could be that I found exactly the right action to accomodate my style of playing.
