I decided to cut my diet cokes. Saved $3-$4 perday instantly. Water is free and has just as many calories.

See! Just by doing that, ceteris paribus, I have an extra $90 at the end of the month

I always try to each cheap meals, so I can save money for gear. Also I take the bus/ get rides from people so I have very low transportation costs.

Perhaps there should be some sort of Gear Purchasing card where a percentage of your purchase goes toward some new gear. Kinda like a self-imposed gear tax. You send your wife out to go shopping with your gear card and in a few months you get a new guitar!! That would be great!!
They do it with airline miles. There are tons of credit card reward programs so this might actually exist. I thought Musician's friend had something like this, but I am not sure.

I drive a car 4 miles to work on the highway. Five speed so I can coast in NEutral. I get 30mpg and spend less than $50/month on gas. It is nice to live close to work and drive a sensible car.

I made sure that my wife was an anerexic when I married her. Relying on the fact that she would extend her values to our kids (2) they are also anerexic. So, their food bill comes to $5.83/week. That is why I can afford all the high-end stuff. I planned ahead.

Learn from me.

I drive 30 miles one way to work. I have an automatic truck. I siphon fuel from my neighbors cars. I spend $0.00/month

It is nice that I have stupid neighbors

Actually, I DO donate plamsa and get about an extra $200 per month!! It's great - you sit there and watch movies, they pump out some blood, spin it up, suck out the plasma (water content of the blood), and then put the blood back in. This process repeats about 6 times over 45 minutes or so. In all you invested two hours into watching movies. Then you go home and drink a bunch of water and you're fine!!

See if you have a plasma donation center near you. Plasma replaces itself every 24 hours so you don't have to wait two months to donate again. YOu can do it twice a week. Sometimes, if you have certain immunization or antibodies they will pay you even more, but you'll have to check around....

My current savings program have been termed: Apheresis for Amplifiers. with the $200 a month I should have a Vox AC30 sometimes this summer!!

I have bought TONS of gear this way!!

good idea. You might be able to save enough over 10 years to buy, say, a 6 inch cable.

NOT WORTH IT. Lol

Dude, I went to the grocery store last night to get some stuff to put in tacos, and they had these sweet straw hats for 5.99!

Needless to say I got one and I'm wearing my "Taco Hat" now.

[It will also double as a "raft hat" this summer when my buddies and I build this raft... I've got plans in the works for a 12'X12' raft with a 16' mast and giant sail. It's gonna hold 5+ people and have two hammocks and a bbq. So awesome.]

BUMP!

How has the increased cost of gasoline and diesel affected your monthly food
tab?

My best guess is that nobody is paying close enough attention to even notice given their inherent inability to separate dopey spending from a good deal when it comes to food.

I spend more than I should because I don't like to cook. Maybe $100 a week. I eat out half the time. And I buy expensive food at the market. I just brought home a couple quarts of carrot juice...$14. :)

We, me and woman, use aprox. 600 euros/month to food.

Then I might go to a bar and blow 300-400 euros in a couple of days for drinks, food, taxi etc..:o

Fuck, it's my money. I have no car, and no past due-bills.

Make one or two large meals a week and then eat left overs the rest of the time. My tap water is from a private well, not too hard, so that gets me through. I go all out occasionally to have a good time, but certainly not more than twice or thrice a month. I need all the money I can get to pay off the student loans that are building up, then to help my parents pay off their loans for me.

Nice resurrection of the dead there Dr.... :)

I've long operated on the theory that taking my lunch to work equates to about a guitar a year... although these days, now that I like really expensive guitars it's probably half a guitar a year.. ;)
