I have an Emac with the Garageband Recording program on it and I want to record my band using it. I have a Mackie 12 channel mixer that I've plugged into the computer using an M-Audio Audiophile USB. I want to record onto Garageband with at least 5 different tracks for vocals/instruments, so I'd be using 5 different microphones all plugged into the mixer. The problem is I cannot get the program to record from the mics from the mixer, all I can get it to do is record from the microphone built into the computer. Is it possible to record with Garageband using a mixer and record with different tracks recording at the same time? And if so how do I do it?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can record multiple tracks simultaneously in Garageband, unless they're MIDI.

There's a slight chance I could be mistaken, however. Have you tried selecting the Audiophile as the audio input under the Audio/MIDI tab, in the Garageband preferences?

You could still use Garageband to mix regardless. Use another application to record (i.e., Audacity, Pro Tools LE, Logic, etc.) and simply drag and drop the recorded audio files into Garageband.

Let me know if you want me to elaborate further.
