Hey guys, realised i havent posted any pictures on here of my set up, have a look and let me know what you think :) please also tell me ways i could improve the layout, look, and to get better sound

It's pretty much set up on 1 half of my garage, the other half acts as a "live room" if you will (chose garage due to limited space inside the house) the sound is actually not that bad, has a warm feel to it, all digital recording, i ordered a TASCAM US-1800 which is in transit at the moment :D i'm using a pair of Techniques Stereo speakers as my monitors, i love the sound it gives off, but i'm looking on getting industry standard monitors, oh and a bigger desk haha. i'm going to shut up now heres the pics.

First thing I would do is move your mixing desk, if possible. It's hard to say for sure because of hte panoramic canera, but it looks like you have your desk against the long wall. You should put it along one of the shorter walls, shooting down the length of the room.

Also, all those matresses and blankets are probably killing your sound. You need proper materials (rigid fibreglass, etc...) for bass trapping. Right now, you're killing all your mids and highs and doing nothing for your low end, which is 99% of the problem in 99% of rooms. Now, low end is probably 100% of your problem.

Sometimes a few blankets and furniture might be better than nothing, sometimes it makes it worse. But trying to use them instead of proper room treatment will usually make things worse.

EDIT: Now that I look again, I might have been wrong about how much blankets and matresses you actually have up there. There only seems to be a lot in the third picture from the top, so it's probably not as bad as I thought.

Funny the other day I told someonee that was asking about treatment to put some matresses againts the wall jokingly and now I come in here and see it done.. lol.. does it work good?

The room looks comfy and easy to jam in.
Bravo sir. :drunk:

RAMIDude's right tho. The mattresses and blankets will deal with mids and highs but not much on the bottom end.
You'll probably find that out when ya go to mixing tunes and they won't translate worth a shit.

But it's all good. Work with what ya got til ya figure it's time to upgrade.
Bass traps are your friend.
:D
