I was standng up whilst playing and my strap gave way. Sent my rgx720 straight towards the ground  Now the input jacks messed up, it kinda collapsed into itself  .

Shit

Balls

Barbera Strisand

and so on

Yeah I know and it kills me to. Something so simple it would have cost me $15 and it would have been safe

an input jack should'nt be very expensive to replace. did the body of the guitar get damaged?

I'd feel really lucky that it didn't take a head dive. A new metal imput jack is totally worth it. Every guitar I've ever owned I've had imput jack problems with (plastic) and the metal ones are outstanding. Just think of it as an upgrade.

cheers,
scott

I use to think about straplocks, but not anymore since I have a Levi leather strap that holds well. Also, I'd never swing my guitar around or anything so I think I'm all set.

speaking of swinging guitars..........in the first band that i played in, when i was 15, the other guitarist used to swing his guitar around around his body, over his head. funny shit now that i think about it. anyway, he was doing it this one particular time in his bedroom, too close to the wall. the tip of headstock went into the wall and broke off. it was a brand new jackson (remember when those were cool?). he said "don't tell anybody i did that".

That happened to me and my Les Paul Custom a couple years back. Hit the ground and a chunk came off the headstock (small) and the machine head bent. Needless to say I went out and bought strap locks.

This happened to a friend of mine and I laughed my ass off. But I'm not laughing at you! Mojo to you and the guitar. Get 'er fixed up and strap lock that puppy.

This is funny...not because of your accident...I feel for you but, check this out.

My 12 year old son and his little rock band were playing at a school talent show this week. The base player with his bass slung over his shoulder gets on the mic to announce them selves and what they're going to play and his strap slips off the bass while he's talking. He caught it...just barely but during his slip-n-catch move, he says "shit" right into the mic :o ...infront of several hundred kids, teachers and parents  . He try's to tell everyone that he didn't say what they think he said but, he said it.

Strap locks for everyone! :D

Thats pretty good!!

I lost my big toenail from my last guitar falling on it. It still hasnt fully recovered.

You have terrible luck.

Losing your toenail sucks. My room mate accidentally dropped a dresser on his toe when we were moving stuff around. The doctors said it looked like a puncture wound.

Wait, I want to get this straight. You've dropped your guitar multiple times and you still haven't gotten straplocks? This certainly sounds like a personal problem to me.

Nah the one where I lost my toenail happened about a year ago, got straplocks for that guitar. Now yesterday this one happened.

...shit

Did the same thing. In about 82' I was practicing with my first band. Had my 80' les paul goldtop on and reached across something. Woosh...bang, clang!
It hit first on the jack(bent), then smacked off the treble side of the headstocks' tip(big dent) and the G tuner(twisted) and landed face down on a concrete floor. Also took a chunk out of two of the bridge saddles.ARGHHHHH!!!!#**!@####!!
All my guitars have straplocks on them now.

On a side note.. a friend of mine was showing me his new straplocks and swung his guitar around a few times over his head by the strap....you guessed it! It popped off just as he stopped and caught it. You still gotta be careful.

Don't feel too bad. An old guitar player of mine got pissed off at something I did (I don't even remember what) and he threw his SG at me. Snapped the headstock right off. Your busted jack is nothing. Shit'll buff out.

I'll do you all one better. The day after I bought a brand new Yamaha fretless bass for $360, I played my first show with it, and after our set I was packing up my stuff and thought that my case was closed. I discovered it wasn't when I picked it up and my brand new bass came crashing out and comepletely knocked it out of whack. It's fine now, minimal cosmetic damage, but you can immagine my horror at the time.
