Sorry, no beer here, but I had to do SOMETHING to assure I got a listen or two :D .

LOL, anyways, I finished recording a band's DEMO and its finally done being mixed. Figured I'd throw a couple songs up here and catch some hell. :p

Hey... nice recording, a bit to emo-ish for my tastes :p but it sounds decent! Maby a bit more low end on the bass guitar or maby bring it out in the mix more, but leave the bass drum is thumpin', YEA! But for the style I think you got this recording very very close to what it should sound like. Theres really no advice I can give, it sounds good to me, keep on making good recordings!

Thanks, Metal, this recording took about 3 days to record and mix, so there really wasnt too much critical mix checking going on. It was just kinda, thrown down and quick mixed. This was done for free too, so I wasnt really busting my balls too much over getting it perfect. lol.

Keep 'em comin.

Those are some really great recordings! Did you mic the guitars and bass?

Damn. And I was thirsty too!

Great sounding stuff, considering that I was listening on a dell with Altec Lansing speakers! I like what you did. I can't comment on the bass, because the response on the speakers was  , but everything sounded solid! Are you sure you don't have any beer? :D

I listened to 'warmwinter'.

All in all, this is very good.

I'd bring the vocals out a bit and work on the overheads. The cymbals are loud and have some sort of weird comb effect going on. Unless you've got a chorus in there. Then that's what you're going for.

Kick is ok. Snare is a bit weak it needs some balls.

Guitars and Bass sound good.

Nice Job

Wooohooo! With a title like 'Free Beer' how could I resist.

Listening to the opening cut Warm Winter. Liking the sound of the band as a whole really reminds me of this band I used to listen to a few years ago that signed to (RCA i think)?? called "Shift".

Like the guitar and bass interplay, man it seems like the submissions in the cave keep getting better and better in terms of qualitywise. I had a hard time finding problems with the mix but in terms of deep technical analysis I'm not the right person for that.

Good stuff I just enjoyed it for what it was.

..and im not just saying that for the beer. ;) :D

Well thanks for the replies thus far guys. I try. lol.

The bass was a direct line out of the bassists Ampeg SVT-2 Pro. Great sounding amp to begin with, then I just did some fattening up with eq and some BBE. The guitars were two different amps. On the left you have a Mesa Triple Rectifier on channel 2. On the right is a Crate GX head through the same mesa cab. Worked out really well for the sound.

The snare is a sample with Drumagog 3, which sounded WAY better than the original snare track. His choice in drum and the way it was recorded just plain sucked. But, yes, you're right the snare sucks. :(
