freaky, spacey loop sounds?

Can anyone recommend a place to find fururistic, ambient, warped sound effect loops?

At most large retail record stores, they have a section with SFX in it. Halloween, military sounds, outdoor ambiance.There may be some sort of licencing issue, but i just use mine for fun. Sometimes I tweak 'em so you can't tell where they came from.
 
If you have an editing program just record some sounds like the hum of a computer fan, a quarter rolling on a table or other everyday sounds. Then reverse, stretch, resample and process until you get something cool.

I aggree with recording or twisting your sounds...have you heard the Acid Cinematix libraries? They are crap but that's all they really did.
Try the waves plug ins...I find they are great for amient stuff
 
Thanks guys- those are great ideas...I like the idea of recording odd sounds -like the quarter- and just warping them out with effects.
I've been doing alot of that using freaked out guitar sounds. Too bad I don't have a portable DAT. I feel inspired to record some ocean waves, crickets, birds and passing cars.
 
Mu-Tron pedals pedals create great spacey effects. You can usually find a few on ebay.
