Fraud by The Jongleurs mixes

Hey, I know we're (I'm :p) getting critical here, but all in all I think it's great tracking and the performances are solid.

I expect to have to do little tweaks here and there in pretty much any recording, man.
Comparatively, I think I had to do less fixing here than in most mixes I see.

I agree, it was very easy to work with and every individual track was very well played. Won't be like that if I ever put one of mine on!

Finally got my hand on the tracks and, as long as i can get up the stairs, i shall give it a proper mix over the weekend. i had a quick listen and got a rough balance and so far, so good. love the feel of the track man, it's got some real groove to it :thumbs up:

Done and done. First mix up. took longer than i thought due to my inabilty to climb stairs over the weekend (stupid stairs!) I was tempted to cut out the drums at the beginning but as i went for an 80's style fade out i didn't want to hack it up anymore and offend.

Justsomeguy, that was really easy to listen to.

I don't have anything to nitpick, or even anything specific to point out. It was just easy to listen to. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks man, that's pretty much what i was going for :)

now i've done the "clean" mix, i can get on with my NIN inspired version with 8 different types of distortion on every channel (i'm not even sure if i'm joking or not)

I'm late to the party, but I just downloaded and finished a rough mix. I'll post some stuff soon :)

Ah... another player. Awesome.

I'm hearing a bit of echo/delay on the lead in guitar lines and solo... nice. And you've successfully blended my backing vocal to where I know its still there but I can't really hear my croaky ol' voice... super excellent...

Not the hugest fan of the fade out ending, I must admit, but otherwise, nice stuff! Thanks for playing.

Looking forward to the NIN mix...

Cheers man :) i was really excited when this idea got pitched a while back by jimmy and charter and then got bogged down in a mix salvage project (or, at least, it's felt like it!) so missed the start of the game but i'm all in now :)

yeah, i'm a big fan of the logic tape delay on lead lines. wasn't sure it'd work on the wah parts but it seemed ok so went with it. And with the backing vocals i was aiming for the "Iron & Wine" effect; that kinda of they're there but your attention isn't drawn to them, but you'd miss them if they were gone.

yeah, tbh, i'm not normally a "fade out" kinda guy but about halfway through the mix i thought "hey, a fade out would be awesome!" and once the idea was there it was hard to shift

Oh man! Please do that! I'd love to see some more unconventional mixes. (I've been meaning to do a really weird one myself, but haven't found the time.)

I guess you talk to Chater about that she starts a new post?

I'm wondering about that myself.

Nope, just send them to me, and I will direct them to the FTP site. Kind of a go between, as obvious bad things could happen, if we gave direct access to upload to AF PTP site.

Send zipped folder of all wav files (starting at same point) to my email. Use whatever file sharing site you wish. streaky.com is an easy 2GB site.

Man, that sounds complicated. I've never sent a zip file. I have no idea how to do this. I'll try to figure out another way,

Naw, not complicated. Create a folder on your desktop. Send your wav files to that folder. Once they are in there, right click on the folder. It will give you options. One will be to 'Compress and email'.

Actually, you have XP huh? Shizz

PM me, I will give you a download link to software that will allow you to use my Yousendit pro account and I will give you my password. It will zip your folder for you and create the link.

Here's my rough mix. I probably have less than an hour into this. There's lots of hiss on drum tracks... My parallel compression probably didn't help that too much :) I tried to gate some of it off on the snare, but I'll see what I can do. There's basically no automation here yet, but I want to play with automating the vocals and electric guitars. I also want to get the drums to sit and expand a bit better... they sound a bit too compressed right now. I didn't mess the arrangement much yet, not sure if I will at all actually.

PS: I didn't use SoundCloud because IMO it totally kills the quality of the sound file. Let me know if this player is working alright.
