I think it gets lost as well. Maybe post a link to it as a sticky in the Noobs or MP3 Clinic forum, so that it can be easily found.

Yours hit the mark...love where you put the drums, as well as the lead vocal...present but not overwhelming...loved it...but I'll take the compliment...:thumbs up:

You did a lot more with the harmonies than I did. I think that makes a big difference.


It's interesting that we both stripped back the intro, huh?
I didn't realise at first, because I'm so used to hearing it that way in my own mix.
 
Perfect word...strip...songs need to tell a story...and that means keeping things 'tidy'...strip away the 'rambling' measures (in this case, a good pop tune) to keep the interest strong...I had to try it on the ending also...limited time, limited result!
 
I'm curious, I know you guys havent made the song so you're more likely to make it different, but how often do people actually change the structure or take out whole parts or instruments in a song?
 
I wouldn't do that often.
If I'm recording a band and mixing for them I wouldn't make a decision like that, but I would make suggestions about structure before and during tracking.

If I'm just asked to mix (which doesn't really happen) then I'm more likely to do exactly what I want, but I'll always clear it with the writer or band, or whatever.
 
Ooh! I like Steenamaroo's mix. You managed to get the snare to crack nicely and the kick and bass blend nicely.
 
Thanks dude. How's the bass level? I always have trouble settling into the low end on these monitors.

I listened to everybody's mixes yesterday; Yours was the real original one right? All lofo manipulation and stuff like that?
That was really interesting man. I enjoyed it a lot!
 
Yeah, mine was the weird one.

The bass level sounded fine to me on yours.
 
Forgive my ignorance here, but how do I use this? I unzipped it and it's one 600+ MB file. I thought it would be a bunch of smaller files.
 
The zip file should unzip to give you a folder full of wave files.

Did you download my link or the original one. I think a few people have had problems with the original one.


I figured out something that was bugging me about the mix. The fix wasn't ideal, but let's see who notices.
Here's my third and final go.

I downloaded the one in the first post here. It's 625 MB and for type it says "file."

The zip folder from your link is 115 MB but it will not unzip. Using WINRAR it says the file is either incomplete or corrupt. Using Windows to unzip it says "no files to extract."

If you can help, fine, but don't spend too much time with it.

I downloaded my own link, and sure enough, it didn't work.

I'll re upload tonight, but it could take some time.

I'll have a listen from work in a couple of hours Steen... my ears are still giving me hell so I won't get the finer points alas! I may hit you guys up for the files at some stage too!

Don't worry about the finer points; Just assume I've done really really well, and then tell people that I have. :)
