Listening on HD380Pro's this morning (mix15). Man that's crisp. Perfect balance. I wouldn't touch a thing. Your claps really came through well on this mix!
Don't know what you changed on the whistle solo, but it's crisp and nice now, as before it sounded just a bit tentative...maybe it's just how it sits in the mix now.
ONLY NIT: The acoustic is far enough down in the mix it almost sounds like part of the percussion...
Okay, kicked the volume up to hear at reasonable (don't crank my HPs) volume. Still love that organ. Guitars are perfect. Everything is still crisp and clear. The snare is nice. At volume, the claps are a shade too loud, but I'd still not mess with it. You know that first kick thump sounds like it's going to be horrid in the mix, but then sounds so good in the mix. Just good stuff, there! You've livened the drums up a bit, too, I see. They sound a little more natural now.

Good "roots" music song. The whistle could use a bit of reverb. Could use a harmony in the chorus, but mix 3 is a keeper.

Sounds good. Fun tune.

The piano tidbits are real nice.

Same with the guitars.

I think the acoustic guitar could have a little more body, more tone. Maybe try a less scooped sound.

The ending seems a bit abrupt.

Things are panned a lot. I am wondering if more moderate panning would result in a little more glue in the mix.

Thanks a lot for the follow up comments guys. I made a few changes based on your feedback and also added some tracks. It's hard to tell when enough is enough but I think you guys were right, it needed some harmonies.

On HPs the backing vocals are a bit quiet yet (.5-1 dB). Great song! Could be different on speakers...

Thanks Ken, I got a new mix I'm working on already, always a few changes to make the day after recording and letting the song set a little. I'll make sure to review those levels. . .

Still wont put ant reverb on that whistle, heh? (earlier suggestion of mine, but I'm not throwing this song out of bed for that). Yea, if you could just bring up the back-up harmony up, I'm good. Also, the lone organ slide-down and single-note stop at the end doesn't make for a good ending imo. Maybe have a kick or something percussive coincide with that last organ note.

Hey luke, I added reverb after reading your comment. Thanks for listening man!

VERY catchy tune. A little Blues Traveler sound in there too. I wouldn't change a thing(not gonna happen though right? lol)

Sorry to come late to the party. I missed some of the intermediate mixes but caught the last one. This is the best song and mix I've heard from you. It's a pure pop song, arrangement and mix. You know those are words of high praise from me. You have good lyrics and a catchy melody. Your vocal performance is the center of attention. Everything in the mix supports that. Nothing detracts. It's perfect.

first, it's too short!! 2 mins nick? add another min and a half to it, for sure. you might be rolling off those claps a bit too high, unless they're recorded that way. there's no body (i know they're hands) to them :) guitars are great, they're sounding really good, vocals too. good little leads here and there, guitar or keys, whatever they may be. whistle too. i'm interested in knowing how all the reverbs are applied. there seems to be one or two things with significantly different reverb than the rest, though I couldn't put my finger on which instrument(s) it was. as in, something has a "large hall" while others have "small studio" setting. maybe i'm imagining it. great work dude!

Thanks for the feedback Taras! I like having all kinds of reverb, some are studios, some are stadiums, some are not there at all. Doesn't make for a realistic sound stage but meh whatever sounds good ha

just experiment in the DAW with using the same type on the guitars and vocals, but with diff pre-delay. around 80-100 ms for vox and 30-50 for guitars. i'm just hearing/sensing many different environments in the track and i really think smoothing the verb over would help it gel just a touch more. again, just my opinion. it's already great sounding, and a great song.
