Clicks or pops I'd think clock issues.

the noise occurs even when only using one mic. I'm going to try and sit with the manuals for a few hours but i really have no idea where to start.

How are you getting the mic ontp your computer? Which mic are you using?

This could be a mic-preamp problem, or just a noisy hardware issue.

the preamp is an edirol ur80

mics are a pair of mxl 603's
i threw on a copy of cool edit and it recorded flawlessly but when i try sonar it sounds aweful. So it is something with the software settings i assume. i really have no idea though.

I'm almost certain it is machine noise. I get the same thing but it doesn't record well... plus consitering my noise floor is around -72Db to -76Db.... it doesn't show up much.

I think most of mine is due to my monitor signals...
