Yeah dude.... When the kick comes in out of the gate, I thought, "Yeow! This is gonna kick that kick!!!" .... then as the song went on, it sounded a bit too bombastic in the low-end. I'm listening on ear-buds, so I may be up in the night. Anyway... Vocals are insanely awesome, as usual. Guitars are thick and creamy. Sounds amazing, dude. Just tame the low-end a bit.

Your ear-buds are telling you the truth, Jason.
I'll tame that low-end and we'll see how it goes.
Thanx for the comments!:)

That lead really suits the song well - I love it!!!!!!!!! I always like your vocals Joe and the guitars seem smoother/creamier somehow. Different tools?

Cool Joey. Sorry, I didn't listen all the way through because of the low end. I did compare it to Angels Fall and there is a big difference. I know AF is mastered, but I also know you can put up mixes that come close. Can't wait to hear your revision!!! :D

XTC thought they had it sorted but Nigel made a mess of things & British Steel is now just another shiny notch on Megaconglomerate's belt.
Good to have you back amongst it kc!
I'm glad it wasn't my system or ears that were deep in he woods with the bottom end.

First off, I'm extremely conservative when I listen to any heavy rock type music, but I gotta say I really dig your sound. It's got everything for someone like me. I like heavy thumping rage-filled pounding riffs WHEN THEY MEAN SOMETHING. You definitely harnessed that quality and made it work for the song. I waited patiently for the solo, the solo is so important in the genre that it really makes or breaks a song for me. I was not disappointed. Choosing to play with feeling rather than raw technique is amazingly scarce in the music I hear these days. usually just a bunch of 32nd-note arpeggio sweeps and fancy pinch harmonics, dive bombs, etc. You've got the rare talent for (excuse the terminology) shutting the f*ck up in a mix! All musicians involved seemed interested in serving the song rather than their egos, and it shows to the song's credit. Top it off with actual SINGING and not a pathetic demon-growl through the whole thing and the song gets an "A +" in my book. Keep it up, man!

Ya know, a lot of us have known Joey for quite a few years now, on and off HR, and we know what he is capable of putting out. And when someone new to the site, who doesn't really know his previous work, comes along and puts up comments like yours; it kind of reminds us it's all about plain ol' listening to music. At least for me.

Cool comments. Welcome to the site. :)

Thanks, I'm glad to be here :) Not to get off topic, but it's mainstream music that has chased me away, back to a site like this. I get a lot of inspiration from hearing all kinds of music, and everything here is so much more genuine than the retch-inducing crap you hear anymore these days.

Same tools, Gerry, just different settings and EQ. This is very near to the guitar sound I'm going for, kind of British like Jimmy said. As usual, Steve plays solos with a real feel. Thanx for the comments!

Oh hell, Dave, hope your speakers are all right.....:D
I'm putting up a new mix soon.;)

You're speaking right from my heart when you say you listen to the song first and then to the mix.....;) You can have the fastest solo or the best mix in the world, it won't save a bad song. When I listen to other people's stuff here, I always listen to the song first, because in the end, the technology is there to do justice to the music we make and we never stop learning new stuff. Regarding the song, I'm blessed to have 2 great guitar players in my new band, although only one of them played the main solo in this song. But I'm only just starting to integrate them into my recordings. They can shred like hell if they want to, but they do just the right thing for my songs.
Thanks for the great comments and welcome to the site!:)

Hey joey -

The guitars sound tremendous. Just the right amount of gain for this with a nice mid rangey tone. Vocals are slick.

I think I sometimes wish I'd hear more of the bass in your recordings, but on this I think it may actually be a little too pronounced...that and the kick too maybe.

Other than that, a really nice sound. :)

Thanx Pete!
Yes, I mixed without my sub and the low end just went haywire, but I'll tackle that on the new mix. I dig a mid-rangey guitar tone, sort of like Tony Iommi's sound. Considering I only use a little Sansamp GT2 box, I should be quite happy with the guitar sound.;)

Man, what a cool song. Much better on the low end, but I still get my sub working overtime with the kick. Seems the decay of the kick is what is taking up space in the mix on my system. Maybe tighten it up a bit. Otherwise I really like everything else. You still suck though. lol! :D

Thanx Jimmy!
I'll check that kick again, could be a compression problem.
"You still suck though. lol!".....oh well, you can't win 'em all, can ya?:D:p

It's still pretty heavy duty in the low end. My floor toms are ringing! It does seem to be better though and my ears are pretty fried from tracking and mixing all day, so I probably should check again tomorrow.
