This home recording is a project I have been working on for the past several months. Music to me is a hobby, an art, and will always be that way. I dont release albums, force deadlines or look for financial gain. This is simply something I carved that I like to share with others.
I wanted to thank all on this forum who responded to my first post with the advice and words of encouragement. After doing some research I was able to find the right equipment and I believe the final product (after 10 edits, listening through speakers in my boombox stereo, walkman, truck, etc) is good for a first attempt. The Myspace filters give a sort of metallic aftertaste, anyone who is interested in a decent copy stright from the mix can email me at theashandthered@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, critical or not. Have a good weekend to all.

Chain Reaction is at www.myspace.com/theashandthered

Peoria, huh?

Howdy neighbor, some very interestingly cool music you have there.
Got more?

Thanks man. Other material: I wrote with another band, similar style but probably not as technical, up until a career move to Peoria. That work is up on www.myspace.com/hellofblades. Good technical riffs, but the songs were way too long. Think my writing has improved much since. In addition, done work on several proggier tapping tracks, havent massively engineered those yet.

Where are you at, do you play/record/engineer?

Decatur.

I try/fail/amuse myself...mostly.
After a long life event based hiatus, I have returned to playing with 1/4 of the ability I once had (or at least thought I had...).
It's a fun hobby that keeps me out of jail, off the street corner, and off of crack cocaine/heroine.

Haha
I can totally understand. Started with drums 12 years ago, guitar 8 years ago, bass last year, and playing "over" those years. Ive lost a lot in transitioning into a career, but life happens.
Thats cool man, its a great hobby. Couldnt imagine solely depending on it to pay the bills, music is currently a business (unfortunately) like no other. You a death metal fan?

Hey, you Illinois boys aren't too far from me either.

I listened to Chain Reaction, really cool. I am a big fan of the technical death metal genre and that's some good stuff.

Yes, though not exclusively like most of my "deathmetal friends".

I've been listening to Otep Sevas Tra, and Novembre's newest Materia, punctuated by Opeth (Thanx to metalhead there :D ;) )

Very Cool...... Reminds me of some of the stuff I used to do back in the late 80's when I was in Berklee.... but we had some insane sax player...... I am listening right as i type this and its playing havoc with my little tiny pc speakers at work LOL........

Hey metalhead I believe you were offering me advice back when, really appreciated that. The hard panning worked great, and I think I picked up a new pair of good headphones that day, made all the difference. Yeah like Ive said the Myspace conversion doesnt translate perfect, but the core is there. Ill be sending out several copies ripped straight from the mix as well, sound is great.

Hey, if you're in Peoria, look up Mike Layne and Stepdown. They rock! Or Josh Thompson and The Shake, fun stuff! I think The Shake is on the riverfront this weekend!
