Another review had this to say about Walmart fender starcaster guitars....

Play like a rock star on the Starcaster® by Fender®. This package, perfect for the enthusiastic novice, comes complete with everything you will need. The Starcaster® offers the quality you’ve come to expect from fender and will certainly provide hours of playing enjoyment. :D

I personally have not looked one over.
hours of playing enjoyment, cuz they fall apart after that...

Oooohhhhhhhh Burned!

On another note, I like the look of that starcaster, I would love to have one :D

You can thank Radiohead for the jump in price on the starcaster. Jonny used one for a long time, mostly on Street Sprit. I believe they were introduced to compete with the 335. I like them, but wouldn't spend 2k for one.

They were Fender's answer to the 335 series, but just didn't cut it for quality.
Fit and finish were not up to Gibson standards. Tone....? Forget it. That's probably they were DC'd Had an image of being a Chick's Guitar, possibly because they were very light weight. But.....they look cool, and sometimes that's enough.

I hadn't realized the neck was a bolt on till I checked out some better photos. That would make a world of difference compared to a neck through 335 style.

Yeah-Mosrite to me is maybe surf music (Ventures) or punk rock (Johnny Ramones) not the Country/Rock honky tonk stuff~~~~~~~~
Actually, several country artists in the sixties used Mosrite guitars, Joe Maphis, Merle Travis, and Glen Campbell among them. I know Glen Campbell probably may not have a lot of street cred now as a guitarist but in the sixties he was considered the go-to guy among LA studio musicians.
