My 72 Tele - with the original pickups (before I swapped them out for G+L alnicos, as they need to be rewound.) This picture is 10 years old now, hard to believe the guitar itself is 50 years old!.

That's a nice Tele - looks exactly like my old '72 (no longer with me). Can you say how much these sold for NEW? I got mine second-hand from a co-worker in 1980. I picked it up (with Fender hardcase and 100W combo amp) for $300. Tele alone went for $350 when I liquidated. That hurt.

yea, i thought about buying a 'used' and older tele..
but i really wanted something that felt modern.

putting a custom 14" radius 24.75" scale one piece flame maple neck fit the bill!

my first 14" radius, i just loved it the minute i first picked it up.

I got it at EU Wurlitzer on Newbury Street, Boston in 72 for $289.00 + tax. including the HSC! Worth a lot more now!

wow, so cheap back in the day...
i think i paid about that much for a fender mustang back in '72

my new Tele cost a LOT more than that!
LOL

A week later, the same guy I bought the '72 Tele from sold me a Les Paul with it's iconic molded case - a factory second in perfect condition - for another $300, which I sold to a private dealer for $1600. He said it was so nice he wasn't going to resell it, just add it to his collection. When I told him it was a factory second with the word SECOND deeply stamped into the back of the headstock, he said it didn't matter because once you buy one they're all seconds.
