FD-8 filkes directly to PC?

I forgot I had this old FD-8 in my garage. I have many 100MB zip disks that I recorded in the 90's and was wondering if there was a way to get the files onto my pc without the FD-8? Can I simply use SCSI to USB cable and import each track to my pc for editing? Or, does Fostex record the tracks in some other format that renders it useless on anything but the FD-8?

A Fostex guy at a trade show told me the FD-8 files won't be editable on the PC. It's their own format.
