I know it is possible to preview video with an external monitor (TV) with VV3, but I am a little confused.

I do not yet have a OHCI-Compliant IEEE 1394 card (which is what you need to preview on an external monitor) but when I get one, isn't it only going to have a firewire port on it?

My question is: How do I go from the firewire port to my TV? Is there a firewire to analog video adapter? Am I missing something?

Or better yet, is there an adapter/cable that is firewire to S-video?

Help me out, I am a newbie when it come to video stuff.

Thanks,

Brad

Yeah doc, I figured that was one way to do it - but I don't have a DV cam.

I suppose someday I will get a DV deck or camera, but until that day comes, there has to be a way to do this, right?

Sure- but S-Video is an analog signal and Firewire is a digital signal so you've come full circle! I like the video preview on my PC monitor better than on the TV set anyway. I only use the TV when I'm looking for a section on a long tape and want to kick back while I do it.... :)

Hey Doc,

What are you using for a capture card? Do you endorse it?

I don't really have a use for one at the moment, but since I am building a new DAW, I figured I would throw one in there.

Thanks,
Brad

I don't have a "capture" card- just a firewire I/O card.

Capture cards generally will include some analog video I/O as well as the digital variety.
