Hi there. I recently purchased the tascam 2488 to record a few drum tracks over the summer. I like that I can record 8 tracks at a time, 4 with phantom power. But thats about it. Editing the tracks is incredibly tedious and of course the screen is screen is about the size of a wallet photo. But I have it, so I want to get some use out of it. My question is, when I export the recorded WAV files onto my computer (I want to edit them using adobe audition) would I be losing out on anything? Or am I better off spending the extra time doing it all on the 2488? Thanks.

I'm not a 2488 user but I think a lot of folks around here are recording on HD recorders like the 2488, then transferring to PC for editing and mixing.
Of course if you only record one track at a time it might be easier to record straight to PC. But if you record multiple tracks at once (eg a band) or if you do location recording, the HD recorder has advantages.

No you won't lose anything, and editing on a computer is always a breeze compared to just about any HD recorder. Best of both worlds.
