Haha, thanks. I was wondering what happened to you in here. You spend too much time in the gay ass cave.

Can't really judge on these headphones, but everything seems to sound great as usual.

Absolutely love the guitar harmonies in the intro. Are they all 6th harmonies or do they switch around between 4th and 5th etc?

Thanks man. Dude, I have no idea wtf you're talking about. Theory is not my thing. I just play what I think sounds good.

Nice and crisp and tight. Only thing that pissed me off about it was how long it took to download. Guitars have a Thin Lizzy feel at times, but mostly they just sound like you. Do you do the drums first or add them at the end?

Lightningmp3 is usually pretty fast. Maybe they had a glitch or something.

I record the drums along to a scratch guitar or bass track, then pile everything on top. So basically yeah, drums first.

It's ok my music-theoretically impaired friend :D I'll work it out and give you the "Summary please" :laughings:

Seriously though, some of the greatest musicians around know jack about theory. I don't even think Dave Mustaine of Megadeth knows a scale! Knowing the theory can be an weakness sometimes. It can be hard to break from routine.

I'm diggin' the lots of guitar crap going on....and the drums sound awesome.

Good work, Greg.

I don't wanna muck my shit up with theory and laws. I mean, you've heard my songs, they're simple. I can play by ear. I know basic scales and the major and minor chords. I hear it in my head and play it on the guitar. No muss, no fuss. Where's a bunch of wanky theory gonna fit in my 3 chord rock and roll? Nowhere. There's no room for it. I'm not trying to be fancy. I just rock out with my cock out. The only time I come close to using some very basic theory shit is when I'm coming up with bass lines. I don't even know any drum rudiments. :o

Thanks Mick Boobie.

If it works for you, then I'd agree to not bother with theory. It'll probably mess ya up. But, if you ever wanna get experimental it could work in your favour.

(no, spellcheck. "Favour" is a word here, stop writing red lines under it!)

You don't know rudiments? You more of a John Bonham? Straight hits?

Lol. I'm not going anywhere near experimental. Experimental is for jazz queers and prog fags. I just wanna rock. :D

And no, I don't know a paradiddle from a ratamacue. They're all silly to me. I just do what I do and bang the drums.

Nice drumming. I like the shuffle feel in the intro/bridge.

On the choruses, the harmony sounds good - but I think it detracts from the punctuating "oh no!". Too much verb on the background vox. Horses for courses.

Solid work, Greg.

I don't really have anything important to add, but that this post has taken on a life of it's own and has given me more than few laughs just reading it! I failed a music theory class once - So I took all I learned (zero) and applied it to the shitty simplistic crap I'm still playing today.:) Now I teach a music history/appreciation class

Greg, you definitely rock my brutha - but I still say there's a level of sophistication going on with your chords on "Everything is Broken" that I can't identify (due to my lack of theory) until I get my guitar out and hash through it a few times to figure out what's going on so I can steal it! ;)

pffft at theory.

Music comes from the soul. If you got thoery in your soul thne use it.

if not.

Your tunes still come from the soul.

It's not like music theory takes the emotion and feel out of it. I'm a theory freak, but I won't write somethin unless I can feel it.

Okay, thanks SC. It's gonna get a full remix and I'll take that into consideration.

Thanks. Yeah, fuck theory! :spank: :D

I assure you there's no sophistication, and if there is, it's unintentional. I just play what I hear in my head. I'll post the guitar tracks if you wanna hear em.

Good work dude. Drumming, arranging and mix balance are excellent.

Agreed. Knowing theory has no affect on whether or not your playing or recording actually sounds good.
