I'm trying to get an idea of what I would need to run a fairly decent home operation. I play the guitar and sing. I am a TOTAL neophyte, and have no experience with recording. Any advice on the individual components listed here would be great too. I plan on using my computer as an integral part of the process. Here goes:
Roland XP-30 Keyboard (for instrument voices and percussion)
Tascam US-428 Mixer/Control Surface (comes with recording software)
Alesis M1 Monitors
Audio Technica AT4033 Microphone (for vocals)
AKG C1000S Microphone (for guitar)
Sony MDR-7506 Monitoring Headphones
<unknown brand> pre-amp (phantom power for mics as the Tascam has none)
Some tertiary things I will need are mic stands, probably a rack, cables, etc.
I plan on recording onto my computer and using my Ricoh burner I installed to transfer to CD. If I am forgetting something important, please let me know. If you would steer me away from a particular item also, your opinions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
