Emu Patchmix: what do you think of it?

If you've worked on a real console/mixer before, then it will make sense to you. It's easy to get up and running, but I could see it being confusing for someone with no prior console/mixer experience.

I've never had the joy of experiencing PatchMix

Then you are patently unqualified to make that statement. It may be, but I doubt it.

We are both talking from uninformed positions doing this comnparison.

I think I'm qualified and while I can get it to work (patchmix that is)

It's still a pain in the ass, I guess I'm a wuss. :p

Now I've used a Motu 828 they seem to have that routing thing down better than the patchmix nightmare I've been dealing with here.

Just to recap:

You're saying that PatchMix is the best, and it's doubtful there is anything better, but you're uninformed as well as I. You also continue to make statements similar to the one(s) I made, the same ones that in your view I'm patently unqualified to make?

However, in my opinion, the convertors on an Emu are much better than those in maudio and edirol products.

This is not totally true. If you're referring to the "M" model EMU's with the ProTools grade converters, then I'd agree as I've heard many good things about them. But your statement is to general by saying "on an Emu".

Have you compared EMU's to the M-audios and Edirol products? Or is this a case of you being patently unqualified to make that statement?

Fair enough, I'm referring specifically to the "M" series, as those are the only ones I have experience with.

And yes, I have used Maudio and Edirol products. I would not have made the statements I did otherwise.

With the one qualifier, I am qualified to make the statement I did, whereas you still are not.

I am NOT trying to be a smartass here, but it does irk me when people make statements like that where they have no exerience with the gear in question.

Me either, but you're pretty much saying that PatchMix is the best, and you doubt there is anything better out there - without even trying the product I mentioned - or have you used an RME interface and TotalMix before?

Sorry you're "irked", but it seems to me we're both guilty of the same thing here.

I said "I doubt". I did not say anything categorically. There is a difference, and I have been very careful to state where I have direct knowledge and where I don't. I'm sorry if you cannot see the difference.

And i have told you twice now that I do not have hands on knowledge of the RME product, I never implied I did.

And I still DOUBT there is anything better. There may be something with a gentler learning curve, or something that fits your current work flow, whatever.

See the difference?

Well, I'm fully qualified to say that my question has been well answered, and thanks to all of you.
