Garik,

The one, the only, the best since the golden days of analog:
The RB Annis Han-D-Mag. Still available new. Not cheap, but by far the most powerful demagger made. Get it with the accessory round meter that shows you when the tape path/heads need demagging. Here's a link; this is where I bought mine:
http://www.usrecordingmedia.com/tahede.html

Word of caution: if you buy this thing, USE IT EXACTLY ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL.....it can cause major damage to electronics due to the negative field it puts out. But if you use it correctly, you will have the best tool ever made for demagging.

Best,
C

Can anyone recomend a good demag?

I was looking at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170013048830&fromMakeTrack=true

Cant someone point me in the right direction...its for a reel to reel ..pioneer rt-707 if it makes any difference

Thanks

I've been talking people out of those like in the above eBay listing for a few years now. (Some eBay sellers of sticky tape and other analog related refuse are really hating me about now, I’m sure) :)

The Han-D-Mag and the TEAC E-3 are the only two I can really get behind.

Thanks Beck,i really appreshiate your input :)

Off to Search i go :D

Would it not be considered normal to demag the tape heads/path immediately before playback to cut a lacquer master for vinyl pressing?

I just got my test pressings today from the pressing plant and there's faint crackle present in random parts of the album. Is it possible static accumulated from the cutting of the reference lacquer which I oked to the cutting of the master lacquer which got sent directly to the pressing plant?

thanks a lot advance!
