Drum controller

Anyone have any experience with the Akai MPD-16? It's a USB/MIDI drum controller with the MPC pads as the surface. I never had an MPC but I liked 'em when I could play with 'em. So I'm looking for a controller for softsynth drums. My experience with the Oxygen8, however, has me concerned about latency over USB (the O-8 knobs don't perform well in that category). Anyone using the MPD?

i just got one but unfortunately i've not been able to record it yet
but as far as velocity and pad sensitivity it plays - by way of my keyboard- like the 4000 i've been auditioning at the store

I'm waiting for the Battery (VST Drums samples) so i can evaluate my keyboards drum kits

guidance
