Not trying to be an ass, but Im not looking for your advice. It is a mix contest. Not an exercise. I submitted my mix. Thats it. If we all take your advice then all of our mixes would sound the same. Hmmm. Then it would be your mix. :) My mix stands. You dont like it, then you dont like it. I do :)

It actually is meant to be more of an exercise.

Taken from the original post - "This is meant to be a learning exercise first, contest last."

Please read my post a few posts back........ I still haven't heard any really great mixes yet.........

Sorry, but after listening to the advice givers mix, I felt he really shouldnt be giving advice to others. And I think you agreed he has alot more to do on his (couple posts up). But I dont think the kick is too loud. I spent a few hours (off and on between surfing the web) mixing the tune. And the whole thing was done with headphones. And it came out pretty good. I'll take advice. But I dont have to act on it. All I said was "I think the kick is fine". I didnt get red or anything.

I was referring to post 140.

There are a few "good" mixes. But I think everyone has room for critique/improvement. But if you read post 140, it's just peoples opinions, take them for what they are. Although, if you get a lot of people telling you the same thing, you may want to listen.

I think your mix is one of the better ones so far, but in the past there have been a few submissions that were head and shoulders above the rest. I'm waiting for one of those......

Nice mix.

I think the vocals could use a bit of work, and maybe the toms beefed up a bit. That's all that's stands out to me. Well, maybe a little bit more on the guitar on the right too.

Probably the best mix so far IMHO. :D

Its all good. If im gonna win something then I'll go back and change some things. :) One thing after listening to mine a few times is. Id actually slice up the background vocal and only delay certain words. I also spend more time on the final eq and maybe add a little exciter to it. But I think the band is more of a raw sounding type band. I didnt want to over do it :) Again I apologize if I came across the wrong way. I just like how my mix came out. Its a pretty cool tune.

its kinda guitar heavy, without any listenin to subs

my snare is thin, it should be like a 1989 bon jovi snare to make it nice, also id have re-recorded the guitars, with a lot more mids, and no low end on them, but im an A-hole, and dont have any ears.

i also only mix black metal or electronica.................

oh, this is only using protools builtin plugins, no external stuff, and no automation.

so basically its only the 7 band parametric eq from digidesign and the compressor/limiter thing thats built in. nothing else, except some leveling.

am i allowed to use better plugins to get my sound right ?

That's it huh. ;)

You can use whatever plugins, outboard, or alien space technology you want. Hell, you can even reamp if you're so inclined. Just no new performances (i.e. overdubbing new parts, or redoing the current parts)
