Thanks. The funny thing is that I used all budget gear. A Studio Projects B1, Behringer Ultragain 100 preamp, Delta 44 audio interface, Midiman keyboard. Some of the tunes like Hoax and Fire breathing Monster were done using two 10 watt practice amps mic'd in stereo with an sm 57 knock off. On some of them I never even used an amp. Just a plugin called tubebaby. After a while I started using another Behringer. A Vamp2(Wakeup Crew Jingle, Passive Agressive). All recorded into Cubase VST with all free plugins.

All the classical pieces were my Bro. using a roland VS1680 and an EV LDC.

Eventually I sold all of my gear out of frustration and dissatisfaction with my abilities. When I think about it now, I was just starting to learn to use most of it. Especially that Sp B1 mic.

I'm just tryin' to scrape up the scratch to get started again.

Live and learn.

toker im liking it alot. really pretty song. what kind of guitars are they? a 12 string and a 6? did you use auto tune or melodyne or something like that on the voice becuase the singer has great pitch. very nice work, i have nothing worth posting because i spend too much time scratching my head lately...

hue- sounds great! is there some effect on the drums? im having hell recording drums man...

I cheat on drums. Betamonkey loops or lately Brickhouse Audio loops. I would Highly recomend brickhouse audio for anyone who doesn't have a drumset or drummer or the patience to program drums(me). Brickhouse just have great sounding loops and samples. Very warm tone.

For the record Toker: it is a great sounding tune. Very nice sounding acoustic guitar.

No, I will not "shut the fuck up". Take your grey chicklet and go join the Taliban or Al Quida, you morally bankrupt punk. A good portion of my salary is derived from intellectual property, and you would deprive me of my free speech rights to defend my ability to feed and cloth my children? Grow up, you snot nosed brat, and have the balls to sign your feedback.

Having a bad day, Robert? I've come to expect this kind of feedback on threads like this that are clearly "bait". It was pissing me off for a bit, but I'm over it. Finding the feedback doesn't mean shit, anyway. Try to relax, and lets hear some of you stuff. :)

No, I'm having a fine day. ;) If you want to hear some of my stuff, the link has been there, just click it (thank's for asking).

Good stuff, Robert. What are you playing? The guitar player is really good. On what, or where, did you record that? Nice tones.

Thanks Toker, I played most of the guitars, the bass, the drums, and the keyboards. The strings are real, played by someone else, and there's another guitarist out in Kansas City that I collaborate with long distance. Awakening was all done in Samplitude Pro, recorded in my home studio in the redwoods. The house is all redwood and pine, no sheetrock, concrete or anything not wood, and has, if you'll excuse the pun, excellent timber.
The other 2 songs were started in an ADAT studio, and then imported into Samplitude.

hmmm.....ill keep this thread alive for a quick question.......

ive been using sonar 4 (producers addition), and its been my main audio device for quite some time now. But when i see Nuendo 3 on the market for almost $2000......street price........what the hell!?

what does it do that most DAW softwares dont!? how does one justify paying that much!?

I don't buy recording software at all - I use open source!

The donations or helping the projects otherwise are good way to keep'em alive.

there's enough free stuff nowadays you don't need to steal it?
I guess if your obsessed with that "brand name", but there's Kristal for FREE and Gold something for mastering demo's etc...
and a part time job to buy recording gear would instill better character.

on the other hand, how can one be surprised...all of our large companies and often our goverment is screwing everyone for their benefit so how can one be surprised the masses are distributing their own kind of wealth via the internet to save a buck. "fhk 'em" is what we've been taught by our own current day leaders.

just don't get too famous like Napster or you'll attract bigger filthy stinking rich companies that will take you to court.
no ones suing the other 100000 music download sites. but Napster had a household namebrand.

I wonder sometimes how they make any money at all these days selling CD's?

Reminds me of the cassette taping days all over. Everybody screamed about that too....but everybody kept doing it. The sky didn't fall.

Just because the sky didn't fall on you doesn't mean it didn't fall on anybody. ;)

Ardour...

If you don't want to pay, just use linux. Then you don't have to pay for windows either. And you get a massive library of LADSPA plug in's for free!!

I haven't posted on this site in over a year and this post is still hanging around!!
