so in the school labs they have midi keyboards (maudio axiom) connected to mbox which is connected to the pc which has pro tools on it...
all i want to do is to be able to use pro tools with all the virtual instruments such as xpand, boom etc on my computer at home... can i just buy a keyboard midi controller and plug it via usb direct to my pc and start mixing music in protools????
If your sound card is ASIO compliant then you do not need an M-Audio or Avid interface to run Pro Tools 9 (9 only, all previous versions required an M-Audio or Avid/Digi interface depending on what you are running). Pro Tools 9 does require an iLok dongle for licensing.
Pro Tools and a new pc and a new video card and a new....
I was looking into this too, I'd like to try Pro Tools.
The issue might be that your pc isnt very good for Pro Tools 9.
I found my older pc wasnt going to work too well with Pro Tools 9, so I started looking for an older Pro Tools but then the interface requirements (Digi or M-Powered came up).
Pro Tools 9 requirements- (looks like Windows 7 is a must.)
