What's funny is that the same question is still getting asked.

What ever happend to Middleman, anyway?

Somewhere in the signup instructions it should say in huge letters

'And make sure you look at the f*cking date before you reply to a thread!!!'

:D

Well, what do you know?

I just checked, and it looks like Middleman's been here the whole time!

I should get out of the cave more often. :o

(Chessrock's thinking, "no, you should go back in there and stay") :D

Man, this thread is a blast from the past. The people on this thread were an early culture around here. I wonder what happened to most of them.

Some of us happily used our VTB-1's to make fine recordings for the next 5 years! :)

definitely the dmp-3 for $119, since the price has gone up 30% since this thread was originally posted, and it was the winner in the first place. :D

I think an RNP would be worth saving for. It competes with ~$1000 units. It is better than all units in the $400 range. It will make a substantial contribution to your sound and is something you will use for alot longer than any of the cheaper pre's.

I would save for the Grace Design m101..it competes with $3000.00 pre's..and I love mine!!

Where do you see DMP3's for $119? I see people saying this, but it's 159 at musicians friend right now.

Apparently they've gone up another 25-30% since June! :D

I haven't seen them much lower than $150 new in the last couple years.

Has anyone priced FullCompass on the DMP3?
They were significantly cheaper way back when I ordered mine....

this may be a stupid question but since the dmp/3 does not have xlr output, how could i plug it into an mbox?

no, i was referring to the price posted in the original poll of $119. add 30% to that and you get $154.70, roughly the going price for a new one now.

that's why i said "the dmp3 for $119 is the winner." you know, like, because it's a good pre at its current price point, and if you could get it now for the price it was going for when this perpetually resurrected, outdated thread was originally started, it would REALLY be a good deal...

*sigh*

forget it. :o:rolleyes::cool::D

is you read your mbox manual you'll find it has 1/4" inputs. I believe the xlrs are neutriks? which means 1/4" input as well as xlr in same port?

anyway, 50 days late responding but figured it might be useful info still LoL

cheers,
Don
