Hey guys, so after doing tons of research about studio workstation desks I found out that not only are these things overpriced and expensive but most companies I emailed and was going to seriously make a purchase with, were complete jerks!
The people at Argosy were the most professional, they took 3 days to reply but their price for shipping was almost $1k alone. We are constructing our new recording facility, over 1200 sq. feet, separated rooms etc. and we have a budget for everything of course. For the control room we really wanted to keep furniture under $1k if we could. Since most money is in the gear, furniture should be last on the list.
So I designed our own studio workstation (using other designs as references) and went ahead and built one for our studio! The great thing about this was that it is totally custom fit for our gear at this moment, and future upgrades are easily accommodated to since the desk breaks apart easily! I planned this desk build patiently and took time in the design. At the end, here is what it looks like!

Total desk price was under $300!
All I used was oak wook and particle boards, oak being the extra support system under the table top and also the back leg.
This desk is very sturdy, I sat on top of it, kicked it and nothing is happening to it. I weigh over 200lbs and this thing didn't budge : )
What I would do differently?
-Well to start, I wouldn't of done red in our control room, it was a last minute thing and we used red fake leather for the desk..In my opinion I used too much red and was going to remove half of it (mainly on the legs) until clients and other people came in, everyone loves the bright colors in this room! Very odd to me, but everyone seems to get a great vibe in here so I don't plan on changing it any time soon.
I made my desk to fit me and my working environment, it took me roughly 17 hours to build and assemble, spent 3 straight days on it and also on the acoustic panels on the walls.
Plan your desk, take your time and save some serious money so you can invest into more GEAR. No studio furniture should cost as much as it does, of course Argosy desks are very nice and professional but they refused to wrap mine in leather as it would (make the value triple) oh, for fake leather! I spent time and a little money on this, compared to an argosy desk it is just as stable, large and serves its purpose.
Maybe one day i'll change my mind, but for now $3,500.00 for a desk does NOT sound good to me.
Let me know if you have any questions, feel free to post them here!
I have more pictures of the whole build process but this website doesn't like outside links from new users
Thanks for looking!
