Digital Burps!!

Every time I record any type of high frequency dominated sound (snare,hi-hat, and sometimes even percusive acoustic guitar) I get this digitized burping that
seems to be more prevelent (and destructive)
the more tracks I have(what I mean by that is that it can't be masked by other instruments/tracks)I know for a fact this is NOT due to clipping or any other dynamics problem as I compress using high quality comps/limiters. I've tried every thing I can think of so now I'm thinking I made a huge mistake in purchasing an MD8 (yamaha) ...or maybe I'm expecting too much from a compromising medium (MD)...DOES ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM???
 
I'm not sure what you mean by burping or where the problem could possibly be, I haven't had that trouble. Are you hearing this noise while you're recording or while you're playing it back, or when you try to mixdown?

It isn't the MD-8; it has to be the operator of the MD-8.

If you are over-dubbing to record, do you put your recorded track on CUE before you do the next track? Need to do that or very strange things will happen.

When you get several tracks done and put them on CUE, don't worry about the levels until you are ready to MIX your product into tape or CD or whatever.

When I record a High-pitched guitar from my Keyboard, I have no BURPS; but, if you don't record properly, CUE-up the tracks that are complete, you may be doing strange things.

Green Hornet PS What are you doing with your EQ dials? You could have the HIGHS too high?

Hmm..very strange indeed.... I'm sure it's not the MD8. Perhaps it's mad media? MAybe try a new minidisc, or another brand?

Also, what compressors, limiters are you using? Try recording the signal without those to see what you get. If you do that, you can slowly narrow down the problem..

Any more ideas? You often find the problem in the strangest places...
